With a focus on student success, economic mobility and community engagement, FIU is redefining what it means to be a public research university.Job SummaryResponsible for performing and executing underwater Aquarius habitat maintenance, offshore rigging operations and support saturation diving operations utilizing SCUBA and Surface Supplied Diving systems to a depth of 100 Feet of seawater. Support land based and offshore recompression chamber operation. These duties directly support the FIU Aquarius Reef Base habitat Program.Serves as a tender for Surface Supplied diving operation.Performs basic rigging calculation and conduct underwater and topside lifts.Splice lines for mooring systems.Conducts general maintenance on SCUBA and diving life support systems.Conducts Surface supplied dives to 100 feet of seawater.Operates High- and Low-pressure divers air compressors.Operates heavy duty underwater power tools.Serves as a Standby safety diver for SCUBA and Surface supplied diving operations.Performs basic electrical and plumbing task topside and underwater.Utilizes underwater lift bags to move object up to 10000 lbs.Performs basic boat maintenance on diesel engines and other systems.Serves as a crew member under USCG regulations which requires random drug screening.May supervise diving operationsSupervises re-compression chambers operationsMinimum QualificationsCommercial Diving school or Military Dive school or related field OJT and 5 years of commercial/Military diving experience.Certifications: Commercial Dive school or Military Dive school.
