Field Services Intern

Position Summary:The Field Service intern will collaborate closely with experienced Field Services employees. Interns will actively engage in team meetings, project site visits, safety training, and special project events. The Intern will develop critical skills in Field Services by learning how the team oversees activities related to scope, cost, schedule, and budget. The Field Services Intern will gain hands-on experience in essential project management areas such as survey, inspection, drilling, and laboratory. This role offers a balanced combination of fieldwork and office tasks, allowing you to track and manage activities effectively.Duties and Responsibilities:Perform field work on projects as directed and supervised by Team Leads.Keep accurate notes and appropriate work records.Gain exposure to the critical aspects of all Field Services areasGain practical knowledge by observing and learning from experienced Field Service Technicians, Surveyors, Lab Technicians, and Geo TechniciansPerform duties on specific projects linked to all areas of Field Services.Ensure fieldwork complies with company and contract requirements.Assist Team Leads with research projects and business simplification projects.Take part in design reviews, quantity estimations, field inspections, field testing, soils and lab testing, and schedule evaluations. Analyze potential delay impacts and learn how to address them.Complete all assigned tasks on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project scope.Utilizes computer aided drafting, design software and various other computer software packages to assist in the preparation of construction details, design plans, reports, and meeting exhibits.Performs tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures.Travel may be required from time- to-time. Travel may be for projects, training, career fairs, conferences, meetings, or other work-related duties.Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.Special Knowledge, skills and abilities:Basic understanding of construction materials and testing procedures is a plus.Ability to perform basic computations using calculator or hand-held computer.Strong communication and interpersonal skills for the effective engagement of the team.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer operation.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.Able to perform tasks that require long-term standing and/or repetitive motions.Education and Experience:This is an entry level position where no previous experience is required.Currently pursuing degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Survey Technology, or related discipline.3.0 GPA or higher preferredHigh school diploma or GED requiredLicense and Certification:Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.Work Environment:PEC values a healthy work environment, and we focus on working efficiently and collaboratively to ensure quality and productive work as well as quality time away from the office. The position requires mobility and driving. Duties involved require moving materials that weigh up to 25-50 pounds frequently and able to carry 50 pounds over rough terrain for at least 100 yards. Will lift 85-100 pounds and on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. Bending, reaching, standing, and walking required. Continuously stand for up to 4 or more hours per day. Work outdoors in various weather and topographical conditions for long periods of time.
