Head Swim Coach

POSITION: Head Swim CoachLOCATION: Musselman HighQUALIFICATIONS:Candidates must possess or be eligible for West Virginia Teacher Certification; or, possess or have the ability to obtain the WV Coaching Authorization, prior to the start of the season (High School Diploma or GED required). This includes successful completion of a three-day ASEP / WVSSAC certification training class, with three online exams, followed by four NFHS / WVSSAC online courses with online exams, and required Safeschools trainings. Appropriate grade level athletic coaching experience within the last five years required.ACCOUNTABLE TO: Principal/ Athletic DirectorFUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:Responsible for the administration of the designated sports programDevelopment of team philosophies & responsibilitiesSupervision of players and assistant coachesInventory of all equipmentWork with athletic director/principal on program budgetMaintenance of fields and facilitiesPrepare practice/game plansDevelop and supervise an off-season strength and conditioning programDevelop a program to follow player academic progressCare of injuriesDevelop positive relationships with players, parents, students, coaches, band, faculty, officials, media, and the communityBe knowledgeable of all WVSSAC rules and strictly adhere to the sameAttend required WVSSAC clinicsAssist in organizing supplemental funding activities to support the programAssist in the supervision and evaluation of assistant coaches at all levels of the programDevelop staff development opportunities for any assistant coachesParticipate in the school's Sportsmanship Program and Scholar/Athlete ProgramPerform additional, reasonable, job-related responsibilities as assigned by the athletic director and/or building principalCOMPENSATION:Pay based on approved BCS Coaching Stipend Schedule.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
