Portfolio Associate

The Portfolio Associate is a member of the Portfolio Management team and is primarily responsible for executing portfolio implementation and trading operations in accordance with Foster Group's investment strategy. The Portfolio Associate can expect to perform a variety of functions to support the Lead Advisors and the Investment Team.Primary Duties:1. Execution of Trades:Setup and maintain accounts within trading softwarePrepare and process trades of various securities (mutual funds, ETFs, stocks, bonds)Prepare and update necessary documentation for trade executionTimely and accurate placement of trade orders as directedOrganize and ensure the completion of routine day-to-day trading activitiesPlace and monitor investment trade orders through custodiansMonitor requests submitted via CRM to ensure timely response to requestsMaintain client specific investment notes and trading information in CRM system (Salesforce)2. Portfolio and Systems Review:Become an expert in utilizing the trading software (Orion's Eclipse) through formal and informal learning opportunitiesDevelop an understanding of and maintain non-client specific information, such as portfolio models, rebalancing parameters and tax guidelines, in the trading softwareReview portfolios for variance from target allocations and rebalance portfoliosProduce and update documentation of routinely performed tasksPerform routine and project-related maintenance in the trading software3. Coordination and Collaboration:Provide consistent, thorough, and accurate communication to all parties involved with trading requestsReview potential trading errors and submit findings to senior team members including explanation of the error, its cause, resolution and plan to prevent the type of error from happening in the futureMaintain team approach by assisting and filling in for othersAssist with client meeting preparation by producing investment notes and portfolio recommendationsRespond to requests from clients and outside advisors4. GeneralFill in to assist others or aid clients or AdvisorsPerform other duties as requestedEducation/ Experience:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, preferredProficiency in Excel and WordInternship or other practical or industry experienceRequired Skills:The Portfolio Associate must have strong math, problem solving, and data gathering skills. This person must be organized, detail oriented and focused on highly accurate and timely execution of work. In addition, it is important that the Portfolio Associate is comfortable working collaboratively. The Portfolio Associate must be a clear communicator as they will be responsible for following up with numerous people, communicating findings, requesting clarification of instructions and explaining results.
