Job Title: Injection Molding Mold Technician/Tool Hanger Location: Reynoldsburg, Ohio Department: Manufacturing/Production Reports To: Production Supervisor/Injection Molding Manager Job Summary: The Injection Molding Mold Technician/Tool Hanger is responsible for setting up and maintaining molds in injection molding machines, ensuring efficient operation of the machines, and maintaining the quality of products. This role requires technical expertise in mold installation, troubleshooting, and machine maintenance, as well as a strong understanding of safety protocols and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Mold Installation: Safely hang and install injection molds in molding machines. Align, secure, and adjust molds according to setup sheets and production specifications. Perform mold changes efficiently to minimize downtime and meet production schedules. Machine Setup and Operation: Set up injection molding machines, including the installation of molds, material loading, and machine calibration. Adjust machine settings to ensure optimal operation and product quality. Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain production efficiency. Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identify and troubleshoot issues with molds, machines, and auxiliary equipment. Perform routine maintenance on molds and machines to ensure they are in proper working condition. Work closely with maintenance personnel to schedule and perform preventive maintenance. Quality Control: Inspect and measure first-run products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Make necessary adjustments to the process or machine to correct any deviations. Document and report any quality issues or defects to the appropriate personnel. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure that all molds and equipment are handled and stored properly to prevent damage. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes and reduce waste. Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in injection molding preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in injection molding, with specific experience in mold installation and setup. Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of injection molding processes and equipment. Ability to read and interpret, setup sheets, and technical drawings. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong commitment to safety and quality. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy molds and equipment, up to [weight] pounds. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production area for extended periods. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary for handling tools and equipment. Work Environment: This position operates in a manufacturing environment where safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) are required.
