Mutuels Supervisor

General Definition:Trains clerks in policies, procedures and job duties and assists patrons as needed. Essential Job Functions: Supervises employees in a fast-paced environment and enforces policies and proceduresTrains clerks in policies, procedures and job dutiesListens to customer complaints, examines situation, and resolves problems to promote good public relationsSummons security personnel as needed to assist with conflictsHandles taxable wagers and monitors and monitors scheduling and breaks for Mutuel clerksFinds appropriate answers to any patrons' questionsDependability, good attendance, and occasional overtime requiredMay be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays as scheduledPerforms other duties as assigned Education & Training:Associates degree from two-year college/university or 2 years of related experience and/or trainingTwo years of business operation experience required, including two years of management experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibilityPossess strong organization and leaderships skills with a focus on meeting customer needs Basic math and cash handling skills highly importantAbility to motivate and supervise department personnelAbility to maintain records and complete reports as requiredExcellent written and oral communication skills required, including problem-solving and conflict resolutionAbility to interact positively with employees and the general publicAbility to plan ahead to ensure that resources are effectively and economically allocatedAbility to use good judgment, including grasping and assessing the facts of a situation and draw correct conclusionsAbility to prioritize time so that work is accomplished on a regular basisReliable and committed to meeting schedules and deadlinesAbility to select and develop staff to meet accepted standards and departmental objectivesAbility to demonstrate initiative, including being proactive and resourceful, and working independently with minimal supervisionAbility to think constructively and search for ways to improve processesAbility to win confidence and gain respect through consistent demonstrations of personal courtesy, tact and timely responsivenessAbility to recognize the need to coordinate effort; be reliable in following through on requests and commitmentsAbility to foster an environment that nurtures collaboration, teamwork and mutual respectAbility to prioritize, multi-task and be flexibleAbility to work as part of a team, work with interruptions, and work with detailed information/dataPrevious managerial/supervisory experience is preferredPrevious experience as a Mutuels Clerk is preferredBasic computer skills such as word processing and/or spreadsheets preferred Training:Will complete departmental and company-wide trainings in a timely fashion when required Licenses/Certifications/Other: Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency if applicable to perform the essential job functionsTexas Racing Commission License (TXRC) Physical Requirements: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
