Purchasing Manager (Brockton)

Our client, a manufacturing organization, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities and support the finance function. This role is responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials. The position is hands-on, with direct ownership of purchasing for the Brockton facility while helping drive improvements in processes and systems.ResponsibilitiesOwn day-to-day purchasing activities, including order placement and materials coordinationDevelop and execute purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery timelinesBuild and manage supplier relationships, including negotiating pricing, contracts, and service agreementsReview, process, and approve purchase orders to support production and operational needsPartner with internal teams (operations, production, finance) to align procurement with business demandsLead, mentor, and develop members of the procurement teamManage procurement of raw materials, components, and production suppliesUtilize and enhance ERP/MRP systems to improve purchasing workflows, reporting, and data accuracyMonitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, cost, or deliveryAnalyze purchasing data to identify cost savings opportunities and process improvementsEnsure materials are sourced in accordance with customer and production specificationsSupport inventory management efforts, including cycle counts and resolving discrepanciesAssist in standardizing and centralizing purchasing processes across locations over timeQualificationsDegree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, or related field3–5+ years of purchasing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environmentStrong negotiation and vendor management skillsHands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred)Experience managing or mentoring team membersAbility to operate both tactically and with a process improvement mindsetStrong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
