We specialize in practical, non-prescriptive structural solutions including retaining walls, steel and concrete elements, and custom designs.We are seeking a part-time Field Technician Intern to join our team starting June 2026. This is a hands-on role focused on field data collection for real structural projects.Position DetailsLocation: Based in Chestertown, MD (Eastern Shore)Hours: Up to 32 hours/week during summer 2026; 10–16 hours/week during the 2026–2027 school year (flexible around class schedule)Start Date: June 1, 2026 (flexible)Compensation: $18/hour to start, increasing to $20/hour after 90 days. Further increase to $25/hour possible after one year for strong performers.Mileage: Federal IRS rate reimbursement for use of your personal vehicleKey ResponsibilitiesYou will be trained directly by Jay Silcox, P.E. and work under his supervision. Primary duties include:Performing accurate field measurementsTaking geotagged photographs and short video walkthroughsDocumenting site conditions and basic notesUsing testing and measurement equipmentMaintaining clear, organized data for Jay’s reviewWork will primarily be on the Eastern Shore, with occasional sites in Delaware, Annapolis, Baltimore, D.C., and Northern Virginia. Many sites involve crawlspaces, attics, and active construction areas.QualificationsCurrently enrolled in an engineering or related technical program (rising sophomore, junior, or senior preferred)Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s licenseComfortable working outdoors on construction sites, including crawlspaces and uneven terrainStrong attention to detail and good communication skillsAbility to follow instructions and work independently after trainingProfessional appearance and reliable work ethicGrowth OpportunitiesStrong performers will have the chance to take on drafting and technical work after one year.
