Senior Corporate Counsel

Cryoport, Inc. is redefining temperature controlled supply chain support for the life sciences industry by continually broadening its platform of solutions, serving the biopharma, reproductive medicine and animal health markets.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)* Provide oversight and leadership for all legal needs, including activities to be performed inhouse or tactically through third-party providers, to efficiently manage legal activities and mitigate risk for the business unit.* Lead the structuring, drafting, negotiation, approval, and management of a wide variety of globalcommercial agreements, including customer agreements, distribution agreements, vendor contracts, logistics agreements, and strategic relationship agreements, spanning the breadth ofproducts and services.* Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional teams (operations, sales, finance,quality, and HR) to support strategic initiatives, product launches, supply chain activities,and international expansion.* Advise and support the protection and management of intellectual property, includingpatents, trademarks, and confidential business information.* Oversee defense and prosecution of commercial litigation; manage outside counsel andlitigation costs; develop prudent case strategies with input from business units and outsidecounsel.* Develop, implement and manage legal policies and procedures and ensure compliancewith regulatory requirements, including trade compliance, with a focus on continuous process and quality improvement.* Develop and deliver training to employees on key legal and compliance topics such as contracting practices, regulatory requirements, and ethical business conduct.* Monitor new and emerging developments in applicable worldwide regulations and laws, andidentify potential impacts on current and future product and service offerings.* Provide additional legal support on other matters and assume other responsibilities, as needed.* Keep abreast of (i) changes in company product and service offerings, and (ii) trends influencingthe company and the successful management of company legal affairs.COMPETENCIESDriven and self-motivated with a strong desire for learningExtremely organized with a strong sense of priority, urgency, and commitment to deadlinesExcellent analytical, communication, organizational, and negotiation, skillsIndependently drafting and revising complex commercial contractsAbility to manage a heavy workload and prioritize multiple projectsAbility to work independently while functioning well in a team environmentAbility to understand general business operations, issues, and dynamics beyond the scope of basic legal issuesExcellent legal and business judgmentAbility to communicate effectively with members of other departments in order to support their functions as well as to assist them in supporting the legal staffAbility to identify and resolve legal issues quicklyPossessing a high comfort level with various technology platforms with the ability toseamlessly use those platforms with a distributed company workforceQUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSJ.D. degree from an accredited law schoolLicensed to practice law7+ years corporate legal experienceExperience working in a technology and IP driven environment a plusExperience in working with a publicly listed company also a plus
