The Corporate Director of Financial Accounting and Reporting position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of accounting and reporting, serving as lead accountant to provide financial insights, manage teams, support strategic decisions and ensure delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to Company stakeholders.Primary Responsibilities• Research accounting and other relevant literature to develop the Company's position on technical accounting matters, lead the implementation of new US or Global accounting standards and produce white papers supporting the Company's position for review by external auditors• Coordinate all internal and external audit activity; challenge the scope and procedures of external auditors to help achieve their objectives, but minimize cost and effort of Company personnel• Provide business, financial, tax, accounting and internal controls insight and advice to senior management and owners as part of contract reviews, system implementations and exploration of strategic changes• Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate US and local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulatory requirements• Ensure appropriate financial internal controls, policies and procedures are in place and operating effectively• Oversee all activities relating to the monthly and annual financial close and consolidation process of HoMedics entities in accordance with US and local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Company financial policies, ensuring accurate and timely reporting• Analyze and meet with group company or department leads to understand and provide commentary on results, prior to finalization, of various monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages and analyses being issued to satisfy senior management, owner and external reporting requirements.• Support the CFO in engaging senior management and owners around issues, strategic decisions and trends in ownership, financial and operational matters; carefully listening and serving as a bridge between financial and non-financial managers providing a clear translation of relevant financial matters and their impact on owners and operations• Support and provide guidance to Financial Planning and Analysis, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Tax and Treasury team members reporting to the CFO with respect to internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, supporting audits and reporting deliverablesPosition RequirementsEducation Requirements• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required• CPA or Chartered Accountant certification preferred• Masters degree (MBA or MS in Accounting) preferred.Other Requirements/Competencies• Uncompromising professional integrity and ethics• Minimal 4-6 years of audit experience (Big 4, 6, 8 public firm experience preferred)• Minimal 6-8 years of financial accounting and reporting experience• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills• Extensive financial reporting, business combination, domestic and international consolidation, technical accounting experience• Strong audit planning, management, risk assessment and technical writing skills• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and strong familiarity with IFRS• Appreciation for different business practices and cultures outside of the USA• Implementation experience with ERP systems and new accounting standards• Advanced skill level with computer-based spreadsheets (MS Excel)• Command of word processing (MS Word), presentation (MS PowerPoint) and consolidations packages (Hyperion/FCCS) are must-have competencies• Experience with a large general ledger system (JD Edwards, Oracle, SAP, Great Plains) is also a requirement.• Work experience with a consumer products company having contract manufacturing in the Orient will be a definite plus.• Customer focused mindset and service delivery approach (both external and internal)• Proven ability to multi-task, appropriately delegate, expand the capacity of a team, work independently under pressure and deliver quality and timely results• Self-starter, high energy, hands on and great listener• Keen analytic, administrative and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation and creative solutions versus, simply reporting information• Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training and retaining a diverse team• Ability to encourage collaboration across departments and leverage the strengths of team members• Ability to help clarify roles and responsibilities, mentor and train staff to reach their professional goals• Proven leadership in strengthening internal communication with Company personnel at all levels throughout the organization ;
