Chief Financial Officer

The company is a leading manufacturer, developer and marketer of beauty, fragrance and grooming products based in New York City. The company’s portfolio leverages many years of North American consumer expertise to deliver premium products, clean ingredient conscious formulations and “on trend” designs at value prices. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an executive leadership position with a well-established consumer products organization poised for long term growth through product line extension and new channel penetration.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSThe Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will report to the Chairman and CEO and will work closely with the other members of the executive leadership team (ELT), notably the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Marketing Officer and the Senior Vice President of Sales.POSITION OVERVIEWThe CFO will function as an essential business partner to the Chairman and CEO and the ELT to provide excellent strategic advice and guidance as the company continues to grow. As a key member of the ELT, s/he will develop and implement systems that ensure that the ELT and board have accurate, timely and actionable financial and operational information that facilitates effective decision-making and to provide performance accountability.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe CFO is responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the entire company, as well as selectedadministrative functions. More specifically the CFO will:Take a lead role working with the ELT and rest of the management team to identify and analyze the current status of the organization and strategize on future business structure.Further develop the Company’s financial and reporting systems to produce high-quality data through the effective maximization of the Company’s ERP system.Drive operating discipline through the establishment and regular review of KPIs that drive critical operating performance. Ensure that the Company has the needed operating procedures and financial reporting and analysis to support the management decision-making process.Structure internal controls, develop accounting policies and engage the finance department to play a key role in improvement of Company profitability – both financially and operationally.Manage the budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and liquidity management processes.Develop and manage relationships with key external constituencies including financial institutions, accountants, HRCT Net PEO/benefits, risk management/compliance (ISO certification, safety, etc.), legal counsel and insurance providers.Provide fiscal oversight and ensure effective administration, reporting, and compliance across human resources functions.Oversee tax strategy and planning activities.Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization, i.e., evaluation of potential acquisitions, mergers and divestitures.Provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology and lean initiatives that align with the mission of the Company. Direct the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems and lean consultants in support of the Company’s operations to improve cost effectiveness, customer service, quality control, and mission development.CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS15+ years of experience in financial leadership roles is required. A diversity of experiences across a broad range of functional finance areas, including financial reporting; accounting and controls; budgeting; merger and acquisitions; treasury; and financial planning and analysis.Ability to interpret and communicate financial and operating information for a “call to action”Management of asset-based credit facilities and liquidity management including cash flow and borrowing base forecasting.Experience in a manufacturing business and associated cost accounting is strongly preferred.Experience leveraging systems to conduct business transformation. Strong vision for how systems can drive operational and financial excellence.Knowledge of integrated ERP systems, with NetSuite preferredReview and interpret legal contracts and agreements to assess their business impact and thecompany’s ability to comply with the terms and conditions.S/he is an operationally focused executive with a demonstrated bias for proactive communication.Experience developing the necessary structure to support organic and acquisition driven growth.Strong academic credentials that include a record of achievement with a bachelor’s degree infinance, accounting or related field. CPA license is preferred.Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and key external relationshipsStrong communication skills, written and oral, including the ability to “command a room”.FIRST YEAR DELIVERABLESDemonstrating an understanding of the Company’s strategy and objectives and the key metrics and infrastructure that must be realized to actualize the strategy.Developing a comprehensive dashboard of relevant KPIs in partnership with the ELT that establishes a culture of accountability, enabling proactive decision-making and improved organizational performance.Elevating the organization’s cost accounting and forecasting capabilities.Leveraging the company’s recently implemented ERP system to efficiently provide timely, accurate and relevant financial, operating and sales informationEstablishing productive relationships across the organization.
