You will focus on supporting design input changes for released product across the Diabetes organization. You will ensure that all changes and updates comply with design controls and follow good engineering practices.You will interact with other functions including but not limited to Software, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, IT, and Regulatory to ensure all stakeholders concerns, feedback, and decisions are addressed and accounted for to ensure the highest possible quality and safety of our products.Key ResponsibilitiesUpdate design changes on existing Diabetes products through process, and regulatory changes to maintain product safety and qualityCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, objectives, and timelinesSupport and collaborate with applicable stakeholders across the Diabetes organizationEvaluate field returns and perform root cause analysis to assess the patient/user risk associated with the post market life-cycle phaseAssess applicable System and product requirements for updates to released productsParticipate in meeting departmental goals and objectivesResponsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.Designs, develops, analyzes, troubleshoots and provides technical skills for new product development.May be involved in triaging, troubleshooting, and supporting Field Corrective Actions and CAPAsDrive collaborative design and development of medical devices; mobile apps, insulin pumps and glucose sensorsDrive collaborative design and development of features in apps connected to cloud data systems with machine learningPerform technical analysis such as functional analysis, timeline analysis, and trade studiesDevelop system concepts, capture user needs, and create use cases or user storiesDevelop and manage multiple levels of requirementsDevelop and document interface designs and protocolsDefine, plan, and conduct formal technical design and test reviewsGuide, develop, and review verification strategies, test designs, test tools, planned execution and documentationPerforms technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.Must Have: Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical field of study with 4+ years of experience in engineeringORAn advanced degree in engineering or another technical field of study with 2+ years of experience in engineeringNice to Have:Experience capturing architectures, system designs, or product definitionsExperience writing technical documentationRequirements Management Tools such as DOORS or PTC IntegrityExperience in technical design techniques such as use cases, functional analysis, timeline analysis, and sequence diagramsExperience in mobile app or web-based systems design, development, verification, and documentation Experience with mobile apps deployment and post launch maintenance Experience working with communications protocol design, definition and documentationExperience working in a regulated industry such as medical device, defense, or automotive.Experience with medical device design, development, and manufacturingFamiliarity with design, development, and sustaining requirements of medical devicesKnowledge of medical device regulations and various technical standardsUnderstanding of common manufacturing processes (i.e. Injection Molding, Metal Forming, Machining, Heat Treating etc.)Knowledgeable in engineering change control processes and product life cyclesTrained/Certified in Lean and/or 6 Sigma and statistical analysis toolsAbility to compile and analyze technical data using Minitab, Excel, R, and/or MatlabProficiency with 3D modeling software such as Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCad, and Windchill PLMProven problem-solving abilitiesStrong communication and inter-personal skillsHands-on mentalityPhysical Job RequirementsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. PR) locations (USD):$104,800.00 - $157,200.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
