Legal Practice Assistant
Burr & Forman LLP has an immediate opening in our Charleston, SC office for a full-time legal practice assistant supporting attorneys representing private securities and labor and employment matters. This role involves performing complex administrative tasks that require knowledge of legal terminology and processes, including preparing legal documents, managing calendars, and coordinating logistics for meetings. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with at least two years of experience in a legal setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the legal team while managing a variety of responsibilities.KEY CONTRIBUTIONSPrepare, edit, and file various types of agreements, briefs, discovery, pleadings, memos, reports, correspondence and other similar documentsPerform complex administrative duties requiring knowledge of legal terminology and legal processesSchedule and coordinate logistics for meetings, travel, and closingsMaintain calendars including transaction deadlines, court deadlines, and appearancesEnter billable time and edit time and pre-bills as neededProcess expense reimbursementsAnswer incoming calls; prepare documents for shipment; and distribute mailOpen and maintain client files and organizational documentsRespond to inquiries for informationOther responsibilities as neededThe EssentialsAt least two years of experience as a corporate, real estate or litigation legal secretary/assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department environment; experience in both corporate or real estate plus litigation preferredAssociate's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experienceProficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to type 50 wpmHighly organized, detail-orientated, proactive with a desire to take ownership as a contributing member of the teamBalance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, exercising patience and professionalism during stressful situationsStrong verbal and written communication skillsSome overtime may be requiredAdditional InformationThis position is a unique opportunity to join a firm that prioritizes our clients, colleagues, and communities.
