Chemical Technician (McDonough, Georgia and Thomasville, NC)
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Chemical Technician to join our team in McDonough, Georgia. As an Chemical Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper management and disposal of waste materials (primarily expired chemicals) for our clients. This position involves visiting customer sites to assess waste inventory, accurately recording inventory data into spreadsheets, assisting with loading waste materials, handling all associated paperwork, and responding to emergency situations if they arise. The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to handle emergency scenarios, and a commitment to environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
Conduct on-site visits to customer locations to assess and document waste inventory.
Accurately record waste inventory data in electronic spreadsheets or database systems.
Communicate effectively with customers.
Assist in the loading and unloading of waste materials onto designated transportation vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.
Provide excellent customer service.
Collaborate with the regulatory team to ensure all required permits and documentation are prepared and submitted accurately and on time.
Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge in waste management.
Respond to emergency situations related to waste spills, leaks, or other incidents, following established protocols to mitigate risks and minimize environmental impact.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or technical certification in environmental science, chemistry, or a related field is a plus.
Prior experience in waste management, environmental services, or related field preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers and team members.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in using spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets) for data entry and analysis.
Basic understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements is desirable.
Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and work in varying weather conditions.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to customer sites.
Willingness to respond to emergency situations and follow established protocols as needed.
