You are subscribed to receive alerts for jobs similar to this one. nJob Title: EHS Specialist (Project Support) nLocation: Duncan, SC nIndustry: industrial installation projects / manufacturing nStatus: Full time, non-exempt / Contract (est. 4-6 month duration) nSalary: $31/hr - $41/hr nPosition Summary nThe EHS Specialist is a temporary position (4-6 months) which coordinates contractor activities for 1 or more Manufacturing Facilities located in the Duncan, SC area. This position will ensure that compliance is maintained with company and regulatory requirements related to construction projects and line moves. This person will support project engineers, site leadership, and contractors nEssential Duties & Responsibilities nnnSupport Project Managers and Site Leadership in implementing and enforcing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements for construction projects, equipment installations, line moves, and facility infrastructure modifications. n nnCoordinate and oversee contractor activities to ensure safe execution of work, including facilitating daily contractor start-of-shift meetings and communicating project-specific safety expectations. n nnManage permitting processes and lead pre-work safety meetings to ensure contractor awareness and compliance with applicable requirements, including hot work, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and rescue plans. n nnConduct routine field observations and inspections of contractor and employee work activities to verify compliance with regulatory standards, company policies, and site-specific safety procedures. n nnIdentify safety concerns, compliance gaps, and improvement opportunities, and communicate findings to site leadership while driving corrective actions to completion. n nnDevelop, maintain, and track contractor audit programs, including contractor performance scorecards and audit metrics to support continuous improvement initiatives. n nnSupport EHS Management of Change (MOC) processes for new equipment, production lines, and facility modifications, including participation in EHS pre-startup safety reviews and follow-up actions. n nnFacilitate and verify completion of Pre-Environmental, Health & Safety Reviews (PEHSRs) to ensure EHS requirements are addressed prior to equipment startup and project completion. n nnAdminister contractor onboarding and approval processes, ensuring contractors meet company qualification standards and are prepared to comply with all applicable regulatory and site requirements. n nnManage contractor EHS compliance by coordinating Pre-Job Safety Analyses (PJSAs), verifying required safety orientation and training completion, maintaining contractor records within the EHS contractor management system, and obtaining current Certificates of Insurance (COIs). n nnPerform EHS audits, inspections, and behavioral observations for contractors and employees involved in construction, capital projects, and line move activities. n nnEnsure all contractor-related incidents, injuries, near misses, and safety events are reported, investigated, documented, and tracked in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. n nnUtilize EHS management software (ETQ) to manage incident reporting, corrective actions, audits, inspections, contractor compliance, and associated EHS records. n nnParticipate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development to prevent recurrence and improve overall safety performance. n nnCollaborate with internal stakeholders and contractor management teams to promote a strong safety culture and drive contractor accountability. n nnSupport compliance with environmental programs and permits related to construction and operational activities, including industrial wastewater, stormwater, air emissions, hazardous waste, and other applicable environmental regulations. n nnAssist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, procedures, training programs, and site safety initiatives. n n nEducation & Experience Requirements nnnPrior experience in plant installations and modifications including oversight of contractors' execution, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment. n nnIncident management, root cause analysis, and investigation skills; ensures appropriate corrective actions are established, tracked and completed in a timely manner n nnKnowledgeable in Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES). n nnRequires general personal computer skills as well as the ability to use Microsoft Operating System. n nnPossess the ability to conduct training for groups of employees with knowledge of adult learner teaching techniques n nnProven success managing projects and contractors, change management and equipment reviews. n nnKnowledge of industry best practices relating to EHS process improvements n nnAbility to interface with multiple levels of the organization and communicate effectively to promote buy-in and reduce or eliminate negative associations with EHS initiatives. n nnProblem Solving - Excellent ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and provide suggestions for improvements or corrective actions n nnInterpersonal skills - Communicates and works well with all levels of the organization; develops relationships with stakeholders to ensure their involvement and commitment n nnInitiative - Keeps abreast of changing regulations and procedures; develops new and innovative methods for implementing EHS processes n nnAutonomous - Able to set priorities while working under limited supervision n nnAccommodating - Treats all associates and contractors as customers;
