CLIENTOur client is a well-established, multidisciplinary land use planning and landscape architecture firm that has been delivering complex development entitlements and landscape design solutions for over five decades. The firm operates across the full spectrum of landscape architecture and land use planning from master-planned residential communities and commercial centers to open space design, and transit-oriented development. It is known for its deeply collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach, working in close coordination with architects, civil engineers, and municipal agencies to move projects from concept through entitlement and construction.POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a licensed Landscape Architect to join this established and close-knit team in their Carlsbad studio on a direct path toward partnership. This is a hands-on role at the core of project delivery, one that spans the full arc of landscape architecture practice, from design concept and agency coordination through construction documents and field observation. This is a role for someone who wants to build something, not just execute tasks.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESLead landscape architecture projects from concept through construction documents, coordinating closely with Land Use Planners, Architects, Civil Engineers, and municipal staffManage project timelines, deliverables, and client communications across a diverse range of project typesSupervise and mentor drafters and junior staff working under your directionSign and stamp plans, conduct site visits and field observations as requiredCollaborate directly with city and county planning agencies Participate in business development, identifying opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and contributing to the firm's growthWork within a hybrid environment, utilizing current technologies including AI-powered design and project management toolsContribute to firm culture: professional, collegial, and built around sustainable work habitsREQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCERequiredProfessional degree in Landscape Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) or Planning5+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture or planningActive California Landscape Architect license preferred Experience across a variety of project types: residential, commercial, mixed-use, open space, and/or institutionalStrong technical skills: grading, planting, irrigation, construction details, and construction document productionProven ability to manage drafters or junior staffExcellent interpersonal and communication skills. Collaborative with colleagues and professional with clients and agenciesSelf-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and capable of managing your own workload and driving projects forwardComfortable with technology: proficient in current design software; open to using AI tools and remote collaboration platformsPreferredFamiliarity with Southern California municipalities, particularly in San Diego, Riverside, Orange, and Ventura CountiesExperience navigating California's entitlement and permitting processesInterest in and aptitude for business development and client relationship managementAll applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and must already possess long-term work authorization.
