Role Details Role Name: Apigee and JavaScript Developer Location: Chicago, IL Job Description Title: Apigee and JavaScript Developer Goal: Design, secure, and operate scalable APIs on Google Apigee that reliably integrate backend services while meeting performance, security, and governance standards. Most Relevant SkillGoogle Apigee API Development: Hands-on experience designing, implementing, securing, and managing full API lifecycle (proxy design, policies, security, analytics) in production environments. Scope of Work:Design, build, version, and maintain RESTful APIs using Apigee Edge and/or Apigee XDevelop and configure custom Apigee policies using JavaScript, XML, and native Apigee extensionsImplement API security controls including OAuth 2.0, API keys, JWT, quotas, and rate limitingIntegrate APIs with backend systems, microservices, and cloud-hosted servicesMonitor, troubleshoot, and optimize API performance using Apigee analytics and logsCollaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments Must-Have Skills (Non-Negotiable):Hands-on Google Apigee experience (Edge or Apigee X)Strong JavaScript experience for Apigee policy development, debugging, and request/response handlingRESTful API design (resource modeling, HTTP methods, status codes, pagination, error handling)API security implementation (OAuth 2.0, API keys, JWT validation, traffic management policies)API lifecycle management (development, deployment, versioning, retirement)Performance monitoring and troubleshooting using Apigee analytics and logsBackend integration with microservices or HTTP-based systemsStrong collaboration and documentation skills Good-to-Have Skills:Cloud platform experience (GCP, AWS, or Azure)Node.js knowledge for API extension or service logicMicroservices architecture understandingCI/CD pipeline experience for API deploymentsAutomated API testing tools or frameworks "All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran."
