This individual helps bridge clinical operations, documentation quality, team support, and patient engagement to ensure continuity and excellence across the treatment environment.General DescriptionThe Clinical Lead is a senior-level clinician who supports the day-to-day operations of the clinical team. This role provides guidance to Counselors and Therapists, oversees quality of clinical services, ensures documentation compliance, and supports the implementation of evidence-based programming. The Clinical Lead plays a vital role in team leadership, clinical development, and operational continuity.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport onboarding and orientation of new clinical staff, including workflow education and EMR useAssist with quality review of documentation including treatment plans, progress notes, assessments, and discharge planningParticipate in interdisciplinary staffing and support treatment planning meetingsAct as a clinical resource for Therapists, Counselors, Recovery Support staff, and interdisciplinary team membersProvide individual, group, and family therapy servicesOffer clinical debriefing, mentorship, and modeling of best practices in therapeutic engagementCoordinate therapeutic schedules, group curricula, and assignment of clientsEnsure timely intake and assessment documentation for all new clientsCollaborate with the Program Manager and Clinical Supervisor to monitor program integrity, census flow, and patient outcomesAssist with maintaining compliance with Joint Commission, Medicaid, payer, and state regulatory standardsParticipate in audits, surveys, chart reviews, and quality improvement initiativesIdentify gaps in workflow or communication and proactively recommend operational improvementsSupport a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and patient-centered treatment environmentPerform other duties and projects as assigned by leadershipQualificationsMinimum QualificationsMaster’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or related fieldCandidates must hold or be eligible for a state-recognized credential or license in addiction counseling or behavioral health treatment, such as CADC, LADC, LCAC, LCAS, ADC, LPC, LMSW, or equivalentMinimum of one (1) year of experience in addiction recovery, mental health, or behavioral health treatmentCurrent First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hireWorking knowledge of clinical documentation standards and patient confidentiality regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2Preferred QualificationsIndependent or advanced clinical licensure preferredExperience supervising, mentoring, or supporting clinical staffExperience with Medicaid documentation, utilization review, and evidence-based treatment programmingExperience in residential treatment, detoxification, or substance use disorder treatment settingsFamiliarity with EMR systems and interdisciplinary treatment team collaborationKey CompetenciesClinical & Operational ExcellenceStrong understanding of clinical documentation standards and evidence-based treatment modalitiesAbility to model trauma-informed, recovery-oriented careAbility to support clinical workflow efficiency and continuity of careStrong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environmentLeadership & CommunicationBuilds trust and credibility across teamsProvides guidance and mentorship while maintaining professionalism and accountabilityMaintains calm and effective communication during crises or high-pressure situationsCollaborates effectively across clinical, medical, operations, and support departmentsQuality & CompliancePromotes accurate, timely, and compliant documentation practicesAssists with chart audits, treatment plan reviews, and quality assurance initiativesUnderstands payer expectations, medical necessity standards, and regulatory requirementsProfessionalism & GrowthDemonstrates emotional maturity, professionalism, and ethical decision-makingEngages in ongoing professional development and continuing educationSupports organizational culture, mission, and team development initiativesWork Environment & Physical RequirementsPrimarily works indoors in a professional clinical treatment settingRequires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and computer useMay occasionally assist with patient support activities requiring lifting or movement of up to 50 pounds with assistanceMust be able to effectively respond to crisis situations and maintain professionalism during emotionally heightened interactionsRequires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to manage competing prioritiesMust maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality standards at all timesEqual Employment Opportunity & Reasonable AccommodationsThe organization provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
