Assistant Powerlifting Coach Stipend

Assistant Powerlifting Coach La Joya ISD seeks a dependable and committed Assistant Powerlifting Coach to support the Head Powerlifting Coach in the organization, supervision, safety, and development of the powerlifting program at Juarez-Lincoln High School. This position is intended for a current staff member who will assist with coaching responsibilities while supporting the academic, athletic, and personal growth of student-athletes. The Assistant Powerlifting Coach will help teach proper lifting fundamentals, promote safe weight room practices, assist with workouts and meets, and support the overall vision and expectations established by the Head Coach, campus administration, and La Joya ISD Athletic Department. Primary Responsibilities Support the Head Powerlifting Coach in implementing the Juarez-Lincoln High School powerlifting program. Assist with daily workouts, strength training, conditioning, technique development, and meet preparation. Help teach powerlifting fundamentals, including squat, bench press, deadlift, proper setup, form, breathing, bracing, spotting, and safe lifting progression. Support student-athlete development in strength, technique, discipline, confidence, and competitive readiness. Assist with warm-ups, mobility, stretching, recovery routines, and weight room organization. Help monitor student-athlete attendance, effort, behavior, academic progress, and eligibility. Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after workouts, meets, travel, and team activities. Assist with meet preparation, weigh-ins, attempt selection, lifting order, equipment, travel, and team organization. Reinforce program expectations established by the Head Powerlifting Coach. Promote discipline, teamwork, accountability, sportsmanship, safety, and pride in Juarez-Lincoln High School and La Joya ISD. Maintain positive and professional communication with students, parents, staff, and coaches. Support campus and district athletic department expectations. Powerlifting Program Support Assist in developing proper technique for squat, bench press, and deadlift. Help student-athletes improve strength, form, consistency, confidence, and meet performance. Support beginner and developing lifters through patient instruction and close supervision. Reinforce safe weight room behavior, proper spotting, equipment use, and lifting progression. Assist with equipment management, including racks, bars, plates, collars, benches, belts, chalk, platforms, and team supplies. Support student-athletes with goal setting, attempt planning, and understanding meet procedures. Assist with tracking lifts, progress, personal records, attendance, and meet results. Support team-building activities and student leadership within the program. Encourage participation, commitment, and year-round strength development when applicable. Compliance and Safety Maintain current CPR, AED, First Aid, and required coaching certifications. Follow all state association, district, campus, and athletic department policies. Ensure student-athletes are supervised at all times during workouts, meets, and travel. Monitor weight room safety, proper lifting form, hydration, fatigue, equipment condition, and student well-being. Report injuries, incidents, safety concerns, or discipline issues to the Head Coach and Athletic Coordinator in a timely manner. Follow emergency action procedures and district safety expectations. Maintain professional boundaries with student-athletes at all times. Ensure proper spotting and supervision during all heavy lifts. Promote safe, age-appropriate strength development and discourage unsafe lifting practices. Qualifications Current La Joya ISD employee preferred. Valid Texas Teaching Certificate or appropriate employment status with the district. Knowledge of powerlifting fundamentals preferred. Coaching or weight room supervision experience preferred but not required. Ability to work under the direction of the Head Powerlifting Coach. Strong communication, organization, and supervision skills. Commitment to student safety, academic success, and athletic development. Physical DemandsFrequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, spotting, and movement during workouts and meets. Ability to assist with lifting technique, spotting, equipment setup, and weight room organization. Exposure to weight room environments, athletic facilities, and competition venues. Extended hours including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, meets, and travel.
