Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.Job SummaryPrincipal Duties:Provide social work leadership and professional expertise to lead the Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools Social Workers. Responsibilities also include clinical supervision, case consultation, RAHS mental health program management, personnel management to support excellent social work services to patients and their families in clinical areas as assigned. Responsibilities will also include the provision of direct patient care in the absence of staffing. Assure compliance with regulatory agencies, University and Health System policies and procedures. Exercise considerable independent decision-making authority and expertise. Recruit, select, hire, orient and train, and evaluate staff. Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently. Analyze, compare, and evaluate data from a variety of sources, and undertake various courses of action with the authority to make independent recommendations on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their responsibilities. Participate in and contribute to projects and initiatives of the departmental clinical management group.Supervision Received:General supervision is received from RAHS Director and other program leadership including consultation with RAHS Medical Directors, Associate Director of Community Health Services as needed.Supervision Exercised:Functional and administrative supervision, orientation and mentorship are provided for Supervisors and Clinical Social Workers.Responsibilities*Post positions, review resumes, interview candidates, select and hire, orient and train new staff.Membership in (or may lead) community interdisciplinary committees focused on patient care, program development, quality, etc.Using mental health data from a variety of sources to support programmatic decisions.Provide clinical consultation to staff, as well as administrative and clinical supervision.Develop areas of programmatic specialty; evaluate existing programs, create proposals for new or expanded programs.Assume responsibility for difficult and complex cases based on experience or area of expertise as needed.Provide specialty consultation to other health care staff.Provide direct patient care services in the absence of clinical social work staff.Serve as a practicum instructor or preceptor for graduate or undergraduate social work students.Conduct scholarly presentation to Social Work staff and participate in educational activities for staff, social work students and trainees of other disciplines.Provide presentations and consultations to other civic organizations as assigned.Participate in community activities which promote health care.Participate as a member of the RAHS disciplinary team, including problem solving, program planning, clinical care planning, and quality improvement.Facilitates monthly social work team meetings. This is for the entire RAHS SW team across all counties.Facilitates bi-weekly RAHS SW Leadership meetings with the RAHS SW Leads.Attends weekly RAHS staffing meetings to review and plan for health center staffing concerns across the program.Oversees the training and orientation of new SW staff and works with the SW Leads to meet the ongoing training needs.Completes intensive quarterly data review and reporting tasks to support the RAHS Director in meeting the requirements of MDHHS grants and delivering reliable data to our funders and stakeholders.Together with the SW Leads and the SW team, engage in ongoing continuous quality improvement.Required Qualifications*A Master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education is necessary.Considerable experience of professional social work is necessary.Current licensure (LMSW) to practice Social Work in the State of Michigan is required. Licensure will be verified via PSV by department administration.Professional social work individual psychotherapy experience using CBT and MI. Extensive experience with psychosocial issues, diagnoses (using the DSM IV) and psychosocial services.Prior leadership experience is required commensurate with responsibilities.Desired Qualifications*Experience in professional social work is necessary.Certification by the Academy of Certified Social Workers is desirable.Applicants should have a strong background and/or expertise in evidence base psychotherapy models.Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to provide mental health care to patients and families, communicate complex concepts to all levels of personnel and collaborate effectively with other health care team members. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and appropriately in written and verbal forms.Modes of WorkPositions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
