McCall-Thomas Engineering is seeking an entry- to mid-level System Planning Engineer in Moncks Corner, SC or in Orangeburg, SC. The System Planning Engineer will need a Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program with experience in electric utility design and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
As a McCall-Thomas System Planning Engineer, you will be joining a team of dedicated individuals committed to our mission of providing quality solutions and services to each of our clients.
The primary responsibilities for this role will include:
Distribution System Planning, Construction Work Plans, Long Range Plans, RUS Standards, Electrical design, System Impact Studies, Coordination Studies, Arc Flash analysis, and other distribution design requirements for electric utilities
Construction Work Planning and Long Range Planning requirements, codes and procedures
Working with the Electrical Division staff members and Marketing to expand client base and obtain additional projects
Responsibility for the accuracy, completeness and profitability of projects you are overseeing
Oral presentations as required
Assisting with proposals, project estimates and scheduling as required
Load Forecasts
Travel and overnight stay will be a requirement for certain projects or marketing visits with clients
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
Experience in electric utility design
Versatility and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
In-depth knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and Rural Utilities Services (RUS) Standards
Willingness and ability to share your knowledge with others
Ability to work on a team or independently
Willingness and ability to communicate with others in person and remotely using phone, video meetings, email and texts
Qualifications (Preferred):
Experience with Milsoft and Light Table Engineering Modules
Knowledge of various codes and IEEE standards
Ability to accurately complete start to finish construction work plans and long range plans in an efficient manner while remaining within budget and time constraints, and meeting the high quality expected from McCall-Thomas Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer in SC or another state with reciprocity
Existing relationships with electric utilities within South Carolina, North Carolina or Georgia

McCall-Thomas Engineering has contracts with several utilities in neighboring states to provide storm damage assessment support in the event of severe weather. Our Electric division employees are required to be available to travel for our Storm Damage Assessment response team when called, either as a Driver or as an Assessor. Details will be discussed in more detail in an interview.
