Electrical JourneymanSUMMARYMortenson is currently seeking an Electrical Journeyman that will be responsible for providing skilled craftsmanship for maintenance and installation of electrical systems.RESPONSIBILITIESAssemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power toolsConnect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other componentsTest electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of systemInstall, repair, and maintain motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulationsStudy plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or installationsRepair and maintain high voltage systemsOrganize work by receiving and studying work orders; gather tools and suppliesRead prints, layout work, and install new serviceRepair electrical problems by replacing faulty parts and componentsMaintain electrical systems by conducting system tests; complete preventive maintenance requirementsKeep supplies ready by placing ordersMaintain safe work environment by following standards and procedures; comply with codesUpdate job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read technical publicationsAccomplish maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as neededContribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededEffectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsAll other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GEDMinimum two years of related experienceTrade or technical school certification/diplomaApprentice aptitude testUnion specific trainingProject specific/Mortenson trainingCurrent driver's licenseAbility to speak and understand English (Spanish is a plus); some ability to read plans; shown emotional intelligence; ability to operate equipment such as table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systemsStrong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, active listening skills, and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedbackRepetitive hand, arm, leg movements*Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.Please note: this position description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
