We’re bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.Technical Consultant – Power & New EnergyHouston, TX or Long Beach / Monrovia, CA (Hybrid)Purpose of the RoleWorley Consulting is seeking an early-career Engineer / Technical Consultant to contribute to the delivery of power and energy transition projects across North America.This role supports the analysis, modeling, and design of transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure, with a focus on renewable energy integration and grid modernization. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically robust, commercially sound, and client-focused solutions that enable the transition to low-carbon and sustainable energy systems.This position offers exposure to both traditional utility projects and emerging energy technologies, supporting project feasibility, interconnection, and early-stage development.Based at Worley’s Houston, Texas, Long Beach or Monrovia California office and follows a 3-day hybrid schedule. Remote work is not available.Key ResponsibilitiesInitiate and support economic analyses for transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure as part of renewable and power project feasibility studiesPerform power system modeling and analysis using industry-standard tools (e.g., PSSE, PSLF, Aspen, PSCAD or equivalent)Assist in the design and development of substation, transmission, and distribution layouts for large-scale renewable energy projectsSupport interconnection studies and grid integration for renewable and conventional power projectsContribute to the review of 30% design packages to ensure technical completeness and alignment with electrical standardsAnalyze power systems for utilities, independent system operators (ISOs), and regional transmission organizations (RTOs)Prepare technical reports, analyses, and presentations for internal teams, clients, and senior stakeholdersParticipate in client meetings and support communication of technical findings to stakeholders and project partnersCoordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, including engineering, project management, and constructionSupport proposal development, cost estimates, and early-stage project planning initiativesContribute to business development through high-quality project delivery and client engagementParticipate in industry forums, conferences, and technical knowledge-sharing as opportunities ariseQualifications / Skill SetBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering (Master’s degree and/or MBA considered an asset)Typically 1+ years of experience in the power, utilities, or energy infrastructure sectorFoundational understanding of power systems, including transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructureKnowledge of renewable energy technologies, including solar PV, onshore/offshore wind, battery energy storage, and microgridsFamiliarity with interconnection processes, grid codes, and regulatory requirementsProficiency with power system modeling tools such as PSSE, PSLF, Aspen, PSCAD, or similar softwareAbility to interpret engineering standards, specifications, and technical documentationExperience supporting engineering analysis, system modeling, or infrastructure design studiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to contribute to practical and innovative engineering solutionsAbility to produce clear, accurate, and client-ready technical reports and presentationsEffective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersStrong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesCollaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teamsWorking towards Professional Engineer (PE) is highly recommended.Understanding of applicable industry standards, regulations, and best practices within the power and utilities sectorWillingness to travel up to 30% to support project execution and client engagementAdditional InformationThis role is in California.Salary Range $77,263 -$113,622Benefits: eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.Los AngelesWe will consider for employment all qualified Applicants, including those with Criminal Histories, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles' Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance.Moving forward togetherWe want our people to be energized and empowered to drive sustainable impact.
