Ingredient Specialist

Purpose of Position The Ingredient Specialist provides governance over development, use and effectiveness of ingredient specifications, and ingredient auditing, quality and verification programs. In this role, you would also provide technical support related to food ingredient quality and safety, and the ingredient supply chain. You would often be involved in problem solving and troubleshooting that relates to ingredient performance and quality. Key Responsibilities Ensure specifications exist for all food ingredients and process aids. Maintain specifications, including storage and shelf life information, and critical attributes that will be required on Certificates of Analyses (COAs) provided by ingredient suppliers. Ensure specifications are reconciled among suppliers, and that suppliers are compliant with Rana’s ingredient requirements, including COA requirements. Recommend a course of action, when compliance is inconsistent. Coordinate ingredient and supplier approval processes and verification activities, and facilitate review and knowledge sharing among other relevant functional groups. Ensure the Ingredient Hazard Analysis and Vulnerability Assessments are complete, up-to-date, and reviewed and updated as appropriate. Investigate ingredient performance or quality matters, and provide assistance to our manufacturing facilities and other departments as ingredient quality, safety or supply issues arise. Reconcile ingredient-related documents and processes across intersecting documents and processes. Manage special projects, lead meetings, conduct research and participate in various project teams as needed. Function as a technical liaison among departments with differing functions and viewpoints. Perform tests or audits to grow understanding of ingredient function and report results to influence a course of action.
