Our StoryThe West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) is a community based organization whose mission is to provide safe, affordable housing with supportive services within a residential setting which enhances the independence and dignity of each person. WSFSSH develops, manages, and provides housing for low income older persons, many of whom live with mental illness and/or have experienced homelessness.Position DescriptionThe Manager of Talent Operations is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for overseeing and managing part of the employee lifecycle that includes: talent acquisition, orientation, and onboarding. This role leads and develops a team of recruiting professionals while building efficient, compliant, and people-centered systems that support a high-quality workforce across a supportive housing environment.This role will drive high-volume recruitment efforts (including frontline roles), weekly orientation process, strengthen onboarding programs, ensure compliance with employment laws, and partner with senior leadership to improve employee retention. This role blends operational execution with strategic leadership to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains mission-driven talent. They will drive the process to quality hires and retention practices while keeping the high pace of recruitment efforts.Job Duties &ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team ManagementLead, manage, and develop the team of recruiting professionals to meet evolving hiring needssetting clear goals, expectations, and performance standards; Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development to team membersFoster a high-performing, service-oriented People & Talent functionAllocate resources and prioritize team workload to meet organizational needsTalent Acquisition & Workforce PlanningOversee full-cycle recruitment for both high-volume frontline roles and specialized positions; Oversee completion of pre-employment requirements, including background checks and I-9 complianceBuild and optimize recruiting systems, workflows, and sourcing strategies to improve quality of hire Partner with department leaders to develop workforce plans and proactive hiring strategiesEstablish and maintain community partnerships to support ongoing staffing needsSolve recruitment and retention issues by working with department heads and senior leadership team membersEnsure the in-house per-diem staff is fully staffed to cut down on outside temporary costsReview vacancies and problem solve any issues with hard to fill roles including but not limited to: reviewing shift schedules organization wide, have creative solutions for 24/7 building coverageCollaborate and strategize with executive leadership on workforce planning, talent development and organizational structure to support scalable growthImplement company-wide onboarding, performance and compliance frameworks tailored to a diverse and dispersed workforcePartner cross-functionally to drive alignment between teams ensuring consistency in HR processes, training programs and employee experienceCompliance & Policy ManagementEnsure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., EEO, FCRA, wage and hour laws)Conduct audits and ensure consistency across HR recruitment and onboarding practicesData Systems & Continuous ImprovementOptimize HR and recruiting systems (ATS/HRIS) to improve user experience and operational effectivenessLead continuous improvement initiatives across People & Talent Operations, including leveraging technology and AI where appropriateRequired Skills / AbilitiesDeep knowledge of HR operations, employee relations, and employment lawExperience with HRIS/ATS systems (e.g., UKG, ADP Workforce Now, Sage, or similar)Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environmentStrong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levelsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree or a combination of education and equivalent experienceA minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in HR, People Operations, Minimum of 3 years of experience managing and developing teams of HR and/or recruiting professionalsPreferred:Experience building or scaling HR and/or recruiting functionsStrong experience in high-volume recruiting and workforce environmentsBenefit OverviewWestside Federation for Senior & Supportive Housing offers full-time employees a comprehensive choice of benefits that include Medical, Dental, Vision, 403(b) retirement savings, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Life & Disability, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), commuter benefits and more.
