Subject Matter Expert 1 (Los Alamos)
Now Hiring: Subject Matter Expert – Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) We are seeking a highly skilled Subject Matter Expert to support a new project at LANL. This is a full-time position from day one , working a 4/10 schedule (four 10-hour days per week). In this critical role, you will lead and administer the Electrical Safety Program, ensuring safe work practices across construction and operational environments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. ⚡ Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary authority on electrical safety at LANL Provide guidance to employees, managers, and project teams on safety practices Conduct incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions Perform workplace inspections to identify electrical hazards Review Integrated Work Documents (IWD) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures Support development of electrical safety codes, standards, and specifications Assist engineers and scientists with complex technical challenges Evaluate equipment and services for compliance with safety requirements Calculate electrical severity scores and contribute to safety reporting Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, and design standards ✅ Qualifications Bachelor’s degree + 7 years of relevant field experience (or equivalent) Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance Advanced knowledge of NFPA, IEEE, OSHA standards (especially NFPA 70E) Experience with low-voltage AC/DC systems and electrical technologies Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools Ability to pass Radiological Worker II training Additional Details Employment Type: Full-time (from start) Project Type: New project Work Schedule: 4/10s Work Environment: Non-secure (no routine handling of confidential information) If you're passionate about electrical safety and want to make a meaningful impact at a world-renowned national laboratory, we encourage you to apply.
