Pathologist Assistant
Pride Health is seeking a Pathologist Assistant (PA-ASCP) to join a team in Augusta, GA 30901. This is a 3 Month assignment (Possibility of extension). opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!Job Description:The Pathologist Assistant will perform gross examination and dissection of routine and complex surgical pathology specimens under appropriate supervision while ensuring compliance with CLIA, CAP, and laboratory quality standards.The ideal candidate will possess strong grossing experience with large and complex specimens, excellent technical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced pathology environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform gross examination and dissection of routine and complex surgical pathology specimens for histologic processing.Handle large, hospital-based whole organ specimens and escalated specimen issues.Assist with daily operations and workflow coordination within the surgical pathology department.Provide training, guidance, and competency support to grossing technicians, students, histotechs, and laboratory staff.Support orientation and quality control verification for newly hired grossing personnel.Participate in competency assessments and direct observations of grossing staff.Perform specimen preparation for non-gynecological and FNA specimens including cytopreparation, staining, and coverslipping.Troubleshoot specimen or workflow issues and escalate concerns appropriately.Maintain compliance with:CLIA regulationsCAP standardsCorporate safety policiesQuality assurance and quality control proceduresInteract directly with pathologists regarding specimen dissection and workflow processes.Identify and resolve issues affecting test performance or reporting accuracy.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and monitoring of laboratory quality indicators.Maintain continuing education requirements and licensure/certification compliance.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree required /Master’s degree preferredCurrent state licensure requiredASCP certification requiredMust meet all requirements for non-pathologists performing gross tissue examinations under:SOP requirements1988 CLIA CFR 493.1489Strong understanding of surgical pathology workflow and laboratory compliance standardsMinimum 1 year of surgical grossing experience preferredAdditional Information:Location: Augusta, GA 30901Contract: 3 Months with possible extensionShift Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST (40 hours/week)Local Pay: $50 - $57/Hour*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.Travel Gross Pay: $2300 - $2480/Week*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.Interested?
