Title: Producer III Location: Washington, DC 20001 (Hybrid Possible) Duration: 6 Months Contract with possible extension Payrate: $75.00 per hr on W2 Must be able to work holidays, weekends, overnights, and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require.LeadStack Inc.'s Digital Video team creates custom video content for all LeadStack Inc. platforms and select social platforms. We write, produce, shoot and edit digital videos and collaborate across the organization to cover breaking news and other important topics such as international conflicts, climate change, health, business and more.The Producer is responsible for monitoring daily news out of Washington, DC and around national politics. They are expected to quickly evaluate and produce standout video moments, reporting and analysis that will resonate with LeadStack Inc.'s digital audiences. They will pitch video stories, gather editorial information and conduct pre-production interviews, write scripts, edit video in-house and occasionally shoot in the studio or in the field. They will also publish and program content on LeadStack Inc.'s platforms.The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller who loves to collaborate in a fast-paced news environment. They are a reporter who values accuracy and fairness; a team player willing to jump in and help at a moment's notice. They are flexible and can move between hard news and lighter storytelling seamlessly. Sound editorial judgment, creativity, and a passion for engaging digital audiences is a must.Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role Writing scripts and editing video for all digital platformsMonitoring breaking news and search/social trendsGathering editorial information through research and interviewsBrainstorming and regularly pitching story ideasExperimenting with video formats to reach new audiencesAssisting with programming LeadStack Inc.'s platforms and publishing to social networksOccasionally shooting video in the studio and in the fieldCollaborating with colleagues in LeadStack Inc. bureaus around the worldOther duties as assigned.Must Have Skills / Requirements Video Shooting and Editing Experience 5+ years of experience; Editing raw moments of breaking news and could also be asked to shoot within the role. Portfolio with examples included required.Video Writing Experience 5+ years of experience; Writing daily video scripts, headlines, and descriptions for the daily videos.Research and Reporting 5+ years of experience; Reporting on Political News and fact-checking. Strong editorial skills with the ability to identify the most important news moments, sound, and video of the day.Nice to Have Skills / Preferred Requirements Foreign language skills a plus.Previous experience with political news outlet.Soft Skills Experience fact-checking stories and conducting interviewsPassion for breaking political news and current eventsTrack record of collaborating in a deadline-driven environmentStrong writing, communication, and interpersonal skillsMust be able to work holidays, weekends, overnights and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require.Interview Process / Next Steps First round with HMSecond round with Senior ManagerAdditional Notes Sourcing in DC.In-office required, open to hybrid.
