Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary ITL Solutions is a fast-growing AS9100D/ISO 9001:2015 certified Defense Contractor who supports our customers in the Maritime and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) sectors. We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer with experience in fluid and fuel transfer analysis to support our US Military and Federal Government Customers. The talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer will support the design, analysis, testing, and optimization of mechanical and fluid-handling systems. The successful candidate will apply engineering principles, computational methods, and analytical tools to evaluate fluid flow, pressure, thermal performance, and system behavior. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop reliable, efficient, and manufacturable solutions from concept through production. _*Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position is not open to foreign nationals or non-US citizens.*_ Key Responsibilities * Perform fluid-flow and mechanical analyses for components, systems, and equipment. * Develop and evaluate computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models to assess flow behavior, pressure losses, velocity distributions, heat transfer, and other performance characteristics. * Analyze and optimize fluid systems, including piping, pumps, valves, ducts, heat exchangers, and related components. * Translate engineering requirements into analytical models, simulations, and design recommendations. * Conduct calculations involving fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and mechanical systems. * Interpret simulation, test results, and communicate findings to engineering and project teams. * Support product development through concept generation, design reviews, prototyping, testing, and design verification. * Identify performance risks and recommend design improvements based on analytical and experimental results. * Collaborate with manufacturing, electrical, controls, materials, and other engineering disciplines. * Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, specifications, and presentations. * Support troubleshooting and root-cause investigations involving fluid-flow or mechanical performance. * Ensure designs meet applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, customer specifications, and quality expectations. * Support proposal preparation for government, defense, maritime, and commercial customers * Assist in development and continuous improvement of estimating tools, costing models, and proposal processes * Participate in technical discussions with customers, suppliers, shipyards, and program stakeholders as required Quality & Technical Expectations * Maintain a strong understanding of quality assurance principles, inspection requirements, traceability standards, and documentation requirements associated with manufacturing and defense contracting * Support compliance with company quality systems, customer specifications, MIL-SPEC requirements, and ISO/AS quality standards Desired Skills & Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. * 3+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, with demonstrated experience in fluid and fuel mechanics or system analysis. * Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and mechanical engineering fundamentals. * Experience with CFD or other fluid-analysis software. * Ability to develop, interpret, and validate engineering models and simulations. * Experience with CAD software and mechanical design principles. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills. * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team. * Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments and external partners * Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems; ODOO experience preferred * Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment * Ability to handle CUI, NOFORN, ITAR, and EAR documentation Preferred Background * Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. * Experience with tools such as COMSOL, OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+or comparable CFD platforms. * Experience with Python, or other engineering programming tools for data analysis and model development. * Experience with Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) software, SolidWorks for product design creation, simulation, and management. * Experience designing or analyzing pumps, compressors, fans, heat exchangers, piping systems, HVAC systems, or other fluid-handling equipment. * Experience correlating CFD results with physical test data. * Knowledge of experimental fluid mechanics and instrumentation. * Familiarity with ASME, API, ASHRAE, or other applicable industry standards. * Experience with design optimization, automation, or parametric modeling. Occasional travel may be required to support testing, supplier activities, customer requirements, or project needs. Success in This Role The successful candidate will combine strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with practical fluid-analysis experience to deliver accurate, actionable engineering recommendations.
