Lower Peninsula counties.The Gas Turbine Technician is responsible for:The proper operation and maintenance of the power facility while assigned on shiftOperating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical equipment, electrical equipment and instrumentationThis equipment includes, but is not limited to the gas turbine, steam turbine, generators, Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG), air compressors, water treatment equipment, demineralizers, motors, pumps, diesel generators and other auxiliary equipmentStrictly adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations to protect employees and public safety.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupportsthe Production Supervisor andthe O&M Manager in the proper operation of the combined cycle generating facility with minimal guidance or assistanceCompetently operates and maintains all plant equipmentCapable of operating plant equipment locally via PLC panel interfacesCommunicates plant issues and keepsProduction Supervisor andO&M Manager fully informed of plant operations, unusual conditions, and faulty equipmentFully supports the use of a computerized maintenance management system (SAP) by displaying proficiency in using the system, entering data consistent with fellow employees and dedication to the facility maintenance philosophyThoroughly records equipment problems in SAP via notifications and documents maintenance actions taken on work order formsHandles corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance work orders in a timely and high-quality mannerShows diligence in documenting spare parts usage and re-orderingReads meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature of equipment, vibration of equipment, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels to verify operating conditionsVisually inspects and listens to equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubricationProvides detailed status of plant conditions to fellow gas turbine technicians at shift turnoverPerforms water chemistry analysis on HRSGs and cooling tower systemsEnsures water chemistry is within proper control rangesAdjusts water chemistry, as needed, by controlling chemical feed and/or blow down ratesWorks with plant chemist and water treatment vendor to properly monitor overall chemistry programOperates demineralized water system in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer and plant proceduresMonitors demineralized water system to ensure quality is within acceptable limitsUses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to operate, maintain and repair facility equipment and ensure equipment is operated within acceptable parametersMaintains equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, valves, gauges, etc. and cleaning, replacing, oiling and lubricating other component parts and equipment as requiredOpens and closes valves as required for proper system operation and mechanical isolationOpens and closes circuit breakers as required for proper system operation and electrical isolationPerforms capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by Plant ManagementSets up and operates various tools and instruments to repair parts and equipmentOperates welding and cutting equipmentDiagnoses cause mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipmentRepairs, replaces, dismantles and examines defective parts along with lubricating and cleaning partsUses test equipment to calibrate and repair plant instrumentation and electrical circuitsAssists in troubleshooting and inspecting programmable logic controllers, plant control systems and distributive control systems including control card replacement and wiring terminationsAssists with repairs of plant instrumentation and plant equipmentIdentifies and resolves Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) problemsAssists in performing calibrations and gas bottle change outsReads, understands and complies with all regulatory procedures and facility safety programsAssists with compliance with all plant environmental permitsWorks shift hours, overtime, and irregular hours as needed to support reliable operation of the facilityPerforms general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the facilityMaintains the cleanliness of all areas of the experience and/or education.Hours and TravelMust possess a valid driver's license. Maintain regular, predictable and punctual attendance during regularly scheduled work hours at assigned worksite. Meet travel requirements of the position. Work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.This position requires the individual to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with a majority of the time spent in the office or specific field locations.Physical DemandsAbility to walk reach, climb, and stoop.The ability to lift to 75 pounds.
