Job Description Duties and Responsibilities Job Title: Senior Pilot Plant Technician L3Location: Dallas, TXDepartment: Pilot Plant OperationsReports To: Ops Manager (Demo Plant) Position Summary The Pilot Plant Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining chemical process equipment such as pumps, reactors, and mixers, ensuring optimal process conditions through careful monitoring of gauges, flowmeters, and control panels. Key duties include conducting quality control tests, recording operational data, performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and adhering to safety protocols. The individual must work closely with team members to ensure smooth plant operations, demonstrate a strong understanding of chemistry and process control systems, and possess excellent attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and communication skills. The Technician Career path consists of progressive levels that reflect increasing technical skill, operational independence, problem-solving capability, ownership of production equipment/processes, and leadership responsibility. What We Hope You Bring · Strong understanding of basic chemistry and chemical reactions· Knowledge of industrial process control systems, factory automation systems· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and safety procedures, produce process work instructions and standard operating procedures.· Mechanical aptitude and advanced troubleshooting skills· Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions· Good communication and teamwork skills· 5S/Lean Manufacturing· Six-Sigma and Kaizen process improvement· Certifications in material handling, transport and disposal· Root cause analysis using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone, SPC charts, or DOE· 7-10 years of experience How You Will Make an Impact· Operating equipment: Run machinery like pumps, reactors, and mixers, adjusting settings to maintain desired process conditions. Evaluate process conditions and optimize.· Process monitoring: Observe gauges, flowmeters, and control panels to ensure chemical reactions occur within specified parameters. Develop and improve specifications and make recommendations to tighten process control. Review opportunities for automation and make recommendations for process and workflow improvement.· Quality control: Collect samples and perform tests to verify product quality meets standards. Use data to evaluate process output and improve yield.· Data recording: Maintain detailed logs of operational data, including pressures, temperatures, and flow rates. Develop and improve logs to capture critical parameters.· Safety compliance: Follow all safety procedures when handling chemicals, wearing appropriate protective gear, and responding to emergencies.· Maintenance tasks: Perform inspections, cleaning, and repair on plant equipment. Engage with vendors and suppliers to perform complex repairs and reduce downtime.· Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues during production, such as equipment malfunctions or process deviations. Make recommendations to eliminate recurrent issues.· Communication: Collaborate with other plant personnel to coordinate activities and report any concerns. Document findings and improving standard operating procedures. Lead Kaizen events, Gemba walks, and corrective action activities. · Training Train and mentor junior level technicians and support their onboarding.Why Work for Momentum?
