Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician
Description: Watershed Consulting is seeking a GIS Technician to join our team of talented professionals specializing in stormwater management planning and design, water quality investigations, and geospatial mapping and analysis. Our team consists of hydrologists, water quality scientists, engineers, and GIS professionals that provide our federal, state, municipal, nonprofit, and private sector clients with a collaborative and innovative approach to solving water quality issues. The GIS Technician will support geospatial mapping and analysis and data management tasks related to water quality planning, monitoring, modeling, analysis, design, and permitting.Responsibilities:Creation, maintenance, and integration of spatial data into GIS databasesGIS spatial analysis and data queryProduction of mapping productsWriting of technical memorandums and reportsField work including GPS survey, UAS operations, and other data collection as neededPreferred Skills and Competencies:Intermediate proficiency in ArcPro (including digitizing vectors, running geoprocessing tools, working with geodatabases, developing toolboxes, and creating map layouts) and strong cartography skillsExperience with ArcGIS Online, including ESRI StoryMaps and web appsExperience with UAS operations, Part 107 certification (or desire to pursue certification), and experience processing UAS dataExperience in field data collection, particularly GPS, and importing data to GIS applicationsExperience with cartography and map layout creationUnderstanding of general concepts related to hydrology, soils, water quality, water resources planning, and environmental statisticsDesire and ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions and in varied terrainExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent critical thinking, analytical, and technical writing skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and desire to work in a collaborative team environmentEducation and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science, or related Geosciences field. 1+ years professional experience within a water resources field preferred.Benefits & Compensation: Watershed Consulting offers a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience, a comprehensive benefits package, as well as opportunities for professional development.
