Nursing Assistant IIThe primary role of the Nursing Assistant is to protect, sustain, and nurture the residents/patients that live at the Center. They provide assistance with activities of daily living, care of the resident/patient's environment, and meet other needs as required. The goal of the work of the nursing assistant is to provide assistance that promotes a high quality of life for the residents/patients. The nursing assistant works as a member of a team that seeks to achieve a home like setting while maintaining excellence in all areas of care.In addition, the nursing assistant will demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy and mission of Hebrew SeniorLife and recognize resident/patient's dignity and choice in all aspects of daily life. They are an active participant in the activities, work, and social environment of the unit/households, and strive to make every resident/patient encounter into a positive and meaningful experience and opportunity, while ensuring the provision of safe and efficient quality care.Core competencies include:Demonstrates empathy and compassion with all interactions with residents and with familiesArticulates importance of supporting independence and resident choice when caring for residentsDemonstrates strong communication skills and ability to foster teamworkArticulates commitment to excellence and high quality careArticulates the importance of accountability and personal ownership related to teamwork and resident carePosition responsibilities include:Recognize and respond to the needs of the residents/patients and familiesRecognize and communicate changes in the resident/patient's condition to the appropriate nursing team memberAdhere to Safe Patient Handling practices, i.e. maintain a no manual lift environmentParticipate in Quality Improvement programsAssist residents/patients with all aspects of personal care as indicated in the care plansDocument pertinent information regarding care delivered in the designated areas of the resident/patient's electronic medical record.Report accidents and incidents as they occurReport any observed or suspected resident/patient abuse immediatelyObserve and report skin integrityParticipate in daily report team and care planning meetings as neededBe proficient in obtaining vital signs and other procedures such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, blood glucose levels, pulse oximetry and urine and stool specimens as directedPerform electrocardiograms and bladder scansFollow infection control practicesAttend and participate in ongoing training and educational classesMaintain confidentiality and privacy of the resident/patient according to HIPPA regulationsCommunicate effectively with peers, other team members, residents/patients and familiesFacilitate life enrichment activities that encourage resident/patient engagementMaintain cleanliness of the resident/patient's room and common program areasPrepare, serve, and clean up after meals and snacksParticipate in committee meetingsOther duties as assignedQualifications include:MA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is required in good standing upon hire and on-going.Fluent English skills required verbal and writtenComputer literacy requiredFlexibility and ability to work independently and collaborativelyMust complete mandatory HSL/HRC educational requirements and programsCore care competenciesPass nursing assistant skills test with 70% or greaterPhysical requirements can be found in Occupational Health.Remote type: On-siteSalary range: $15.00 - $28.00
