User Experience Researcher (Mountain View)

Job Title: UX Researcher – XR / Vision Science / Perception ResearchLocation: Mountain View, CA (Hybrid)Duration: 05+ Months ContractAbout the RoleWe are seeking a UX Researcher with strong experience in XR, AR/VR research, psychophysics, and perception science to support the development of immersive communication technologies. This role focuses on evaluating next-generation spatial computing and display experiences through mixed-methods research and experimental studies.The ideal candidate will have experience conducting perceptual studies, usability testing, behavioral experiments, and quantitative/qualitative research related to immersive technologies, display systems, and human perception.Key Responsibilities:Design and execute mixed-methods UX research studies for immersive and spatial computing experiences.Conduct usability studies, psychophysical studies, perceptual evaluations, surveys, and user interviews.Create research plans, define participant criteria, organize study materials, and support study execution.Analyze qualitative and quantitative research data using SPSS, R, Python, or related tools.Investigate perceptual thresholds, visual comfort, motion artifacts, and vestibular conflicts in AR/VR environments.Collaborate with UX researchers, engineers, product managers, designers, and vision science teams.Present research findings and actionable insights to cross-functional stakeholders.Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Human Factors, Psychology, Vision Science, Cognitive Science, HCI, Sociology, or related field.2+ years of UX research, behavioral research, or human factors experience.Strong knowledge of mixed-methods research and experimental design.Experience with:Psychophysical studiesPerceptual studiesUsability testingBehavioral experimentsSurveys and interviewsFamiliarity with AR/VR/XR technologies and spatial computing.Experience with research analysis tools such as SPSS, R, Python, or similar platforms.Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.Preferred Qualifications:PhD in Vision Science, Human Factors, Perception & Cognition, or related field.Experience with display technologies, advanced optics, near-eye displays, or immersive hardware.Understanding of perceptual thresholds, visual artifacts, spatial perception, and vestibular conflicts.Prior research experience in AR/VR, XR, or immersive technology environments.
