Senior Estimator
Position OverviewThe Senior Estimator is a key leader within the preconstruction team, responsible for delivering accurate, competitive, and strategic cost estimates for complex commercial construction projects. This role supports multiple delivery methods-including hard bids, CM at Risk, and conceptual estimating-while also mentoring junior estimators and driving continuous improvement in estimating processes. The position plays a critical role in supporting successful pursuits, client presentations, and seamless handoff to operations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across estimating processes and tools while promoting core organizational values.Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance support for junior estimating staff, including participation in performance reviews and compensation recommendations.Prepare detailed estimates for hard-bid and competitive proposal projects, including development of spec matrices, bidder call lists, subcontractor and vendor outreach, quantity takeoffs, trade scopes, tab sheets, and summary pricing.Support bid-day execution by coordinating bid room activities, preparing general conditions estimates, and tabulating assigned trade packages.Lead estimating efforts for CM at Risk projects, including development of project-specific bid tabs, coordination of pre-bid meetings, preparation of self-perform estimates, and participation in owner presentations.Conduct scope verification and post-bid reviews with subcontractors and suppliers.Compile and finalize GMP pricing packages and coordinate with field operations teams for turnover into construction.Support conceptual and early-phase estimating by applying industry knowledge to scope elements not fully defined in design documents.Collaborate closely with operations, scheduling, and leadership teams to ensure estimates align with construction means, methods, and execution strategy.Support recruiting, interviewing, mentoring, and training efforts for estimating personnel.Maintain strong internal and external customer relationships through professional communication and collaboration.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, or a related field.Extensive experience on the contractor side as a commercial construction estimator.Demonstrated stability with an average tenure of 4+ years at prior employers.Strong understanding of construction means and methods, unit pricing, bid tabulation, and subcontractor procurement.Experience with conceptual estimating, hard bids, and CM at Risk project delivery methods.Proficiency with estimating and productivity tools, including spreadsheet-based platforms and standard office software.Familiarity with scheduling software and coordination with project schedules.Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, including comfort presenting to clients and ownership teams.Proven ability to mentor, train, and develop estimating staff.Experience in project management roles and K-12 construction projects is preferred.Knowledge of regional construction markets within Texas is strongly preferred.Strong organizational, time-management, listening, and customer service skills.BenefitsCompetitive compensation (Salary $100K - $140K)Performance-driven culture with opportunities for advancementPaid time off and paid holidaysProfessional development and continuing education supportOpportunity to lead high-impact estimating efforts on meaningful commercial construction projectsBenefits Email Your Resume In Word ToCraig.Radke@CyberCoders.comLooking forward to receiving your resume through our website and going over the position with you.
