Scentiment is a fast-growing fragrance and technology company creating premium scent experiences for homes, offices, commercial spaces, and vehicles. Our products include luxury-inspired fragrance oils, diffusers, room sprays, candles, air fresheners, and scenting solutions designed to bring elevated fragrance experiences into everyday spaces.As we continue to scale, we are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to lead our accounting operations, strengthen financial processes, manage cash flow visibility, support inventory planning, and provide accurate financial reporting to guide business growth.About the RoleThe Financial Controller will oversee Scentiment’s accounting function, including month-end close, financial reporting, cash flow management, inventory budgeting, inventory accounting, internal controls, reconciliations, compliance, and operational finance.This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The right candidate will be able to manage the day-to-day accounting details while also helping build scalable financial systems, reporting tools, and budgeting processes for the future.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & AccountingOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processPrepare accurate financial statements and supporting schedulesManage general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related entriesEnsure financial records are accurate, organized, and compliant with company policies and GAAP standardsMaintain and improve the chart of accounts, reporting structure, and accounting workflowsCash Flow ManagementMonitor daily, weekly, and monthly cash flow activityPrepare cash flow forecasts to support leadership decision-makingTrack cash inflows and outflows across sales, expenses, payroll, inventory purchases, marketing spend, and vendor paymentsPartner with leadership to manage working capital and ensure the company has visibility into short-term and long-term cash needsIdentify cash flow risks, timing issues, and opportunities to improve liquiditySupport planning around major purchases, inventory buys, vendor terms, and growth investmentsInventory Budgeting & Operational FinanceLead inventory budgeting and purchasing analysis to support product availability, cash planning, and margin goalsPartner with operations and warehouse teams to forecast inventory needs based on sales trends, seasonality, lead times, and growth plansMonitor inventory levels, purchase commitments, reorder timing, and budget-to-actual performanceOversee inventory accounting, cost tracking, reconciliations, and cost of goods sold reportingTrack landed costs, freight, packaging, fulfillment costs, and product marginsSupport reporting around SKU profitability, inventory turnover, stock levels, and channel profitabilityE-Commerce FinanceOversee accounting for e-commerce sales channels, payment processors, refunds, chargebacks, shipping costs, discounts, and marketplace activityReconcile revenue across Shopify, Amazon, payment platforms, and other sales channelsAnalyze sales channel performance, transaction fees, fulfillment expenses, and gross margin impactHelp improve visibility into product profitability and customer acquisition economicsBudgeting, Forecasting & AnalysisSupport annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and financial planningAnalyze financial results against budget, forecast, and prior periodsIdentify trends, risks, and opportunities across revenue, margins, expenses, inventory, working capital, and cash flowProvide leadership with clear financial insights to support decisions around hiring, marketing spend, inventory purchasing, pricing, and growth initiativesControls, Compliance & Process ImprovementDevelop and maintain strong internal controls across accounting, purchasing, inventory, payroll, and cash managementImprove accounting processes, approval workflows, reconciliations, and financial documentationCoordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, auditors, banks, and other financial partnersSupport tax filings, sales tax compliance, 1099 reporting, audits, and other regulatory requirementsIdentify opportunities to automate manual accounting, inventory, cash flow, and reporting tasksWhat We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experienceExperience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar finance leadership roleStrong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controlsExperience with cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and financial planningExperience with inventory budgeting, inventory accounting, COGS, and product margin analysisExperience with inventory-based, e-commerce, retail, consumer products, CPG, or logistics businesses preferredStrong Excel or Google Sheets skillsExperience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Xero, Shopify, Amazon, payment processors, ERP, or WMS systems is a plusExcellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilityStrong communication skills and ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance leadersCPA, CMA, or MBA preferred but not requiredThe Ideal CandidateYou are a hands-on financial leader who enjoys building structure in a growing business.
