There are currently two (2) vacancies in the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program located in San Pablo and Pittsburg, CA. You may occasionally be required to travel to various locations in Contra Costa County.Public Health Nutritionists are responsible for planning, directing and carrying out the nutrition education program and providing nutrition services to the public. WIC serves pregnant women, women who have recently been pregnant, infants, and children up to their fifth birthday. WIC's mission is to provide all women, infants, and children with healthy food, and the knowledge and opportunity to make healthy choices in an atmosphere of dignity and respect, thus enhancing the potential for all Californians to enjoy a higher quality of life.We are looking for someone who is:A clear communicator. You will be responsible for providing individual and group counseling, and providing nutrition education clearly in writing and verbally to clientsKnowledgeable. You will be responsible for providing nutrition education, and breastfeeding support to clientsA team player. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the application process.Certification required: A valid Certificate as a Registered Dietitian, issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.Experience: One (1) year of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience performing community based nutrition work.Substitution for Experience: Possession of a Master's Degree in nutrition, public health nutrition or a closely related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.1.
