HEBERT LAW CENTER seeks to hire a full-time Assistant Professor of Professional Practice or an Assistant Professor of Law (tenure-track) to teach legal analysis and writing. A successful candidate will teach the fundamentals of legal reasoning and writing by way of predictive and objective memoranda in the fall semester and advance those skills by teaching persuasive writing of an appellate brief and appellate oral advocacy in the spring semester.Responsibilities include:45% Teach the fundamentals of legal reasoning and writing by way of predictive and objective memoranda writing. This further includes experiential supervision of a simulated law clerk experience, including researching and analyzing the law to then draft a written analysis in the form of a predictive and objective memoranda for a supervising attorney.40% Teach the fundamentals of legal reasoning and writing by way of persuasive written and oral advocacy for a client's needed outcome in a simulated appellate practice environment. This includes supervision of the students in how to interview a client and follow court rules as they draft a compliant appellate brief and as they present an appellate oral argument before real lawyers and judges. Must also coordinate opportunities for students to learn from practicing attorneys about oral argument delivery and to attend appellate oral arguments in the field.10% The legal writing faculty collaboratively develop the course materials that are used across the 1L curriculum.5% Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Applicants must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school or international equivalent, superior academic credentials, and at least two years of post-JD degree experience in a position or positions requiring substantial legal writing.## Additional Job Description:## Special Instructions:Applications should include a letter of application, resume, references, and teaching evaluations (if available).
