We focus on businesses operating in complex environments—rapid growth, post-acquisition integration, or broken processes—and help stabilize operations, restore financial integrity, and drive performance.Role OverviewThis is not a maintenance Controller role. We are looking for an operator who can build structure while executing at a high level—someone who can design, implement, and continuously improve close and accounting processes while ensuring the integrity of the underlying financials.You will operate at both a strategic and highly tactical level, with full ownership of the close process. This includes driving close discipline, resolving data integrity issues, and establishing a scalable, audit-ready financial foundation. The right candidate is comfortable reconciling issues at the source while building processes that prevent recurrence.Key ResponsibilitiesStabilize and execute the monthly close in complex or disorganized environmentsReconcile balance sheet accounts and identify root causes of discrepanciesBuild and standardize close processes, reporting packages, and internal controlsDiagnose breakdowns across systems (ERP, billing, subledgers) and drive resolutionPartner with operators to align financials with underlying business activityDevelop clear reporting and variance narratives for leadershipStand up sustainable processes that can transition to permanent teamsRequired Experience (One of the Following)5+ years as a Controller or VP Finance in a $100M+ business, with direct ownership of close and reporting OR5+ years in Big 4 audit with substantial exposure to operational accounting, carve-outs, or similarly complex environmentsCore CapabilitiesProven ability to reconcile and rebuild financials in imperfect environmentsExperience implementing or redesigning close processes and internal controlsStrong understanding of how operational data flows into financial statementsAbility to quickly identify gaps, quantify issues, and drive resolutionHigh comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-paced, high-expectation environmentsProfileHands-on, detail-oriented, and accountableComfortable working through ambiguity without complete informationStrong bias toward action and problem-solvingAble to operate independently while coordinating across stakeholders
