This internship provides hands-on experience in mechanical and HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection (MEP/FP) engineering. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who’s eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to high-impact work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Job ResponsibilitiesSupport the Engineering and Project Management teams in planning and design activitiesAssist with drafting, reviewing, and MEP/FP system layouts using AutoCAD or RevitParticipate in site visits to observe installations, collect data, and verify field conditionsHelp create equipment submittals, technical documentation, and materials takeoffsPerform basic load calculations, pressure drops, and duct/piping sizing under supervisionCollaborate with estimators, project managers, and field teams to gain a full lifecycle view of mechanical constructionContribute to engineering and construction process improvements and documentation effortsSupport QA/QC efforts and participate in team meetings and training sessionsAccountabilitiesLearn and apply engineering fundamentals in a real-world settingDeliver high-quality work that contributes to accurate design, project execution, and customer satisfactionEmbody FirstCall’s values of integrity, quality, and accountability in all assignmentsORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT This position reports to the local Engineering ManagerQualificationsQUALIFICATIONSActively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringCompleted sophomore year or above preferredStrong interest in mechanical/HVAC systems, design-build construction, and field operationsProficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting/modeling software a plusExcellent communication, time management, and teamwork skillsWillingness to learn, take initiative, and ask questionsAvailability to work on-site in a hybrid field/office environmentValid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites, if neededBEHAVIORAL PROFILELanguage SkillsAbility to communicate clearly and professionally with engineers, field teams, and vendors. Able to ask questions, take notes, and present ideas in team settings.Mathematical SkillsBasic proficiency in algebra, geometry, and introductory engineering calculations. Comfort working with units, conversions, and basic technical formulas.Reasoning AbilityCritical thinker with the ability to follow directions, seek clarification when needed, and apply logic to basic engineering tasks and site observations.Physical DemandsOccasional job site visits may require walking, standing, or climbing stairs/ladders.
