Accounting Manager

POSITION SUMMARYThe Accounting Manager is responsible for collecting, analyzing and providing information to assist with managing production costs, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and optimizing cost control within the company. This role works closely with the operations departments and leverages Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to maintain accurate records, prepare detailed reports, and support financial decision-making. This role also assists in managing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and maintains accurate financial records and resolves discrepancies to support the company's financial stability.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Track, analyze, and report on production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead.Develop and maintain costing for finished goods and raw materials.Prepare costing reports and investigate discrepancies.Monitor and optimize cost structures to improve profitability.Use ERP software to record and analyze financial and cost data.Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of ERP system modules related to inventory, production, and financial records.Generate reports from the ERP system to support management and operational decision-making and compliance efforts.Prepare reports, including cost breakdowns and profitability analysisPost accurate and timely journal entries to the General Ledger, including adjustments for costs, accruals, and reclassifications.Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial records.Collaborate with other departments to provide insights into item costing and financial data.Reconcile inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) accounts for accuracy in financial reporting.Assist with periodic physical inventory counts and resolve discrepancies.Supervise Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.Assist in providing timely and quality documentation to external auditors Recommend and implement process changes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.Back up to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable as needed.Other duties as assigned by the Director of AccountingQUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience)Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required.3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in the manufacturing or food processing industry.Hands-on experience with ERP systems is essential.Knowledge of SOX and cost accounting principles.Strong background in financial reporting and analysis.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (intermediate to advanced level).Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.Effective communication and collaboration skills.Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices.Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.Ability to read, write and communicate in English with strong verbal communication skills.
