We are a faith based preschool that is a vital ministry of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Santa Clarita, CA. For over 55 years St. Stephen's Preschool has welcomed all staff and children, regardless of religion, race, national origin, ancestry or family configuration. St. Stephen’s Preschool has earned accreditation from the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, the National Association of Episcopal Schools and praise from local elementary school teachers.About The Role:Our preschool is looking for an Assistant Teacher who can help implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and enhance the learning environment for our students. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working with children, understands how they learn and is dedicated to creating a nurturing learning atmosphere for every student. What Success Looks Like In This Role:
Providing support in executing lesson plans based on developmentally appropriate practice and the specific needs of each child
Collaboration with teachers to monitor the development of each child
Understanding the lead teacher’s routine when it comes to delivering a lesson plan and running the class.
Working with children in the classroom to promote their learning and development
Ensuring the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs
Utilizing developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times
Exhibiting a warm and nurturing teaching approach with children
Having a positive and flexible attitude towards colleagues and children
Being service minded and professional in order to accommodate the needs of the classroom and preschool as a whole.
Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences.
Having an awareness of the unique needs of young children and having appropriate expectations of their abilities.
Exhibiting a compassionate attitude and strong understanding of child development
Nurturing teaching approach
Requirements:
Be at least 18 years of age
Submit to various background checks including DOJ and FBI
High school diploma/GED required and 12 ECE Units required
Experience in Early Childhood Education or supervising children under 5 years old is preferred
Be CPR, First Aid certified or willing to obtain within 3 months of employment
Complete a Tuberculosis test and physical and provide a Physician’s Report
Proof of Influenza, MMR, and Tdap vaccines
Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom
Be able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 40lbs
Working conditions
The Preschool Asst. Teacher role is a minimum 20 hours per week 5 day role. With the opportunity to work additional hours pending availability and need.

Limited PTO
Salary Range: $18-19 per hour
