This position plays a vital role in maintaining financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, supporting accounting system enhancements, and overseeing key accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, project financial management, and team leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial OperationsAssist in overseeing daily accounting activities and financial reporting.Ensure the accuracy of general ledger transactions, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.Support the development and maintenance of internal controls and accounting procedures.Provide guidance and leadership to accounting staff while promoting process improvements.Assist with financial reporting and management analysis.Accounting Systems & Process ImprovementParticipate in accounting software implementation and system enhancement initiatives.Support data migration, testing, reconciliation, and user acceptance during system upgrades.Work closely with internal departments and external implementation partners to improve accounting workflows.Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve reporting efficiency.Maintain organized accounting documentation and shared file structures.Accounts PayableReview vendor invoices for completeness and compliance before payment processing.Monitor subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and contract values to ensure budget alignment.Resolve invoice discrepancies and improve invoice approval workflows.Maintain strong relationships with vendors and support timely payment processing.Accounts ReceivableOversee customer invoicing and project billing activities.Review intercompany transactions and account reconciliations.Monitor collections and aging reports to maintain healthy cash flow.Assist project teams with billing questions and customer account issues.Payroll & ComplianceSupport payroll administration, including employee record maintenance and payroll processing.Assist with payroll reconciliations and regulatory reporting.Prepare documentation for payroll tax filings and other compliance requirements.Ensure payroll activities comply with company policies and applicable regulations.Construction Accounting & Job CostingReview project budgets, cost reports, and contract information for accuracy.Monitor project costs, commitments, and budget performance.Support job cost analysis and variance reporting.Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project financial data.Assist in maintaining the integrity of project accounting information across accounting and project management systems.Required QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.Strong knowledge of:Construction accountingJob costingProject billingIntercompany accountingPrevious experience supervising or mentoring accounting personnel.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Experience working with accounting software and ERP systems.Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.Experience in construction, engineering, or project-based industries.Familiarity with ERP and construction management software, such as:Sage 300Sage IntacctProcoreSimilar accounting and project management platformsExperience supporting ERP implementations or accounting system conversions.Desired Skills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and coaching abilities.High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and process optimization.Strong collaboration skills and willingness to support cross-functional teams.BenefitsHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceLife insuranceDisability insuranceHealth Savings Account (HSA)401(k) retirement planPaid time offProfessional development opportunities
