Electrical Apprentice/Helper
Location: South Florida (Miami-Dade and Broward County preferred)
Project Territory: Southeast, Southwest, and Central Florida, with travel to surrounding areas as needed.
Schedule: Project-based | Part-time to Full-time | Travel Required
SO Electric is seeking dependable, motivated Electrical Apprentices and Helpers to support commercial and residential electrical projects throughout Florida.
This is a 1099 Independent Contractor opportunity with project-based assignments that may range from part-time to full-time hours. Work may include local service calls, multi-day installations, and overnight travel as project needs require.
We're looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
Assist with residential and commercial electrical installations
Install conduit, wiring, lighting, devices, and electrical equipment
Pull wire and prepare systems for installation
Read basic blueprints and electrical drawings
Assist with troubleshooting and testing electrical systems
Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
Follow OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards
Work alongside licensed electricians while developing your skills
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
Some electrical or construction experience preferred
Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools
Basic understanding of electrical systems or willingness to learn
Ability to read tape measures and follow installation instructions
Experience reading blueprints is a plus
Reliable transportation to job sites or designated meeting locations
Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
Ability to work on ladders and in varying weather conditions
Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overnight assignments when required
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation
This opportunity involves a hybrid of:
Hourly field service work
Defined-scope turnkey electrical projects
Compensation structure will vary depending on the type of assignment accepted.
$18–$22/hour (1099 contractor rate) for field and service work, based on experience.
Turnkey/project work may include:
Fixed-scope assignments
Bundled labor pricing by project phase
Production-based crew assignments
Accelerated completion incentives based on project scope and performance
