LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with an education-focused nonprofit organization to identify a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations. This contract role is well suited for a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can assist with month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and transactional accounting support. Staff Accountant Bill Rate: $30-$35/hr Position Type: Contract - Open ended Work Setting: Onsite Philadelphia, PA 19132 Start: ASAP Key Responsibilities Assist with daily accounting activities including AP/AR support, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations; investigate discrepancies and resolve in a timely manner Support monthly close activities, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and recurring entries Maintain accurate documentation for transactions and support audit readiness Track expenditures, code expenses appropriately, and ensure alignment with internal controls Support grant-related tracking and reporting as needed (experience helpful, not required) Partner with internal departments to validate invoices, approvals, and proper account coding Prepare basic financial reports and assist with ad hoc analysis and reporting Required Qualifications 1-3+ years of accounting experience (nonprofit or education strongly preferred) Strong reconciliation skills and comfort with GL work Intermediate Excel skills (filters, pivots, lookups preferred) Strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and professional communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in nonprofit, education, or fund accounting Exposure to grants, restricted funds, or donor reporting Familiarity with accounting systems commonly used in nonprofit/education environments Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: • The California Fair Chance Act • Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance • Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers • San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance Pay Details: $30.00 to $35.00 per hourSearch managed by: Cassandra Coakley Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
