We are a remote-first company with offices in New York City (USA) and Tel Aviv (Israel).As a Controller at Comet, working remotely from the East Coast USA, you will own and direct all global accounting activities, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, serving as the financial backbone of a growing company. You will ensure the company’s financial integrity while partnering closely with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making. In this role, you will balance hands-on execution with continuous process improvement, building structure where needed, strengthening rigor and accountability, and laying the groundwork for a scalable, world-class finance function as the business grows.Responsibilities:Accounting Operations & CloseOwn the monthly close process, including general ledger review, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparationOversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, T&E reimbursement, and customer and vendor contract accountingEnsure timely, accurate GAAP-compliant financial reportingFinancial Controls, Compliance & AuditDesign, implement, and improve accounting processes and internal controls to support scale and complianceManage local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filingsStrategic Partnership & FP&A CollaborationPartner closely with FP&A to analyze budget vs. actual variancesOwn the actuals layer of the budgeting and forecasting processCross-Functional & External PartnershipManage relationships with external accounting firms, tax advisors, banks, and other professional partnersOperate independently while serving as a trusted financial partner to the COO and executive teamPartner closely with the Fractional CFO to support budgeting, forecasting, board materials, investor reporting, and ad hoc financial analyses.Provide clear, proactive insights into financial performance, trends, and variances to internal stakeholdersSystems & Process OptimizationContinuously improve the month-end close and financial reporting proceduresAssess and implement scalable accounting and billing systemsStreamline and automate financial workflowsWho You Are:CPA with 8+ years of relevant experience, including a mix of Big 4 public accounting and high-growth startup experienceStrong background in international technology companies, particularly SaaS/software businessesDeep knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606Advanced proficiency in accounting systems, Excel/Google Sheets, and BI toolsExperience building processes in fast-scaling environmentsHighly independent and self-directed, comfortable operating in a remote settingStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsHigh integrity with the ability to manage confidential informationWhat We Offer:Competitive salary - based on proven experience, skills and locationCompetitive benefits packageFlexible working hours and remote work optionsOpportunities for professional growth and developmentA collaborative and innovative work environmentThe chance to work with cutting-edge technologies and projectsThis role will be located in the East Coast USA, working with a global team (large presence also in Europe and Tel Aviv), some flexibility with work hours is required Comet is an equal-opportunity employer.
