Medical AssistantThe Medical Assistant supports clinical and administrative operations of the Home Health Agency by assisting nurses, therapists, and physicians while ensuring quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and accurate documentation. This role requires professionalism, organization, and strong communication skills in both English and Spanish.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Support:Assist RNs, LPNs, and therapists with patient coordinationTake and record vital signs when permittedPrepare patients for skilled visits and proceduresPerform basic clinical tasks within Florida scope of practiceMaintain infection control and safety standardsEnsure medical supplies are stocked and organizedSupport patient education as directed by clinical staffAdministrative Duties:Schedule patient visits and coordinate clinician calendarsVerify insurance, authorizations, and eligibility (Medicare / Medicaid / Managed Care)Maintain accurate Electronic Medical Records (EMR)Assist with intake, consents, and patient documentationCommunicate with physicians' offices for orders and signaturesHandle phone calls professionally with patients, families, and providersSupport compliance with HIPAA, AHCA, and Medicare guidelinesQualifications:High School Diploma or GED (required)Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred)Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or RMA preferred)Bilingual: English & Spanish (required or strongly preferred)Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and home health processes (preferred)Experience with EMR systemsSkills & Competencies:Excellent communication and customer service skillsStrong attention to detail and documentation accuracyAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environmentProfessional, compassionate, and patient-focusedUnderstanding of HIPAA and patient confidentialityTeam-oriented with strong organizational skillsCompliance & Physical Requirements:Must follow all AHCA, Medicare, and agency compliance policiesAbility to stand, walk, and assist patients as neededBackground screening and drug test as required by Florida law
