As experts in healthcare IT experts, Apex is committed to building systems for healthcare organizations to seamlessly communicate and exchange data across different systems and devices.Summary:The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) is responsible for performing inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of medical and non-medical support equipment, including but not limited to medical package tools, generators, and environmental control units. The BMET ensures all work is conducted in compliance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) guidance, DoD instructions, applicable regulations, and unit directives. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to established procedures to maintain equipment reliability and operational readiness.ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Functions:Must follow original equipment manufacturer guidance, AFI, regulations and unit directionPerform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and calibration of biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety regulationsDiagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in medical devices, performing necessary repairs or coordinating with vendors for service when requiredMaintain detailed service records, documenting repairs, maintenance actions, and performance evaluationsAssist in the installation and configuration of new biomedical equipment, ensuring proper functionalityLife cycle management, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of medical and non-medical support equipment (oxygen generating systems, radiographic diagnostics equipment, life support systems, etc.)Determines associated support items of equipment in order to perform scheduled services and maintenance repairs and calibration; supply support and provisioning requirements; and training requirementsPrepares necessary support documentation and purchase requisitions of partsPerform other duties as assignedQualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge:Basic knowledge of biomedical equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshootingFamiliarity with electrical and mechanical systems related to medical devicesStrong attention to detail and ability to follow technical manuals and safety guidelinesAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare teamEffective communication skills to provide technical support and document service activitiesMinimum Qualifications:Associate's degreeMust have graduated from the DoD Biomedical Maintenance Course or an accredited civilian Biomedical Maintenance CourseMust graduate from the Planmeca digital dental course no later than 12 months after startMinimum 4 years of field experience in performing and managing: initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, maintenance, life cycle management, and repair of medical equipment within OEM guidance, advanced: diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of medical and non-medical support equipment (oxygen generating systems, radiographic diagnostics equipment, advanced life support systems, etc.)Must be able to pass client background screening for security clearanceTravel may be required for this positionPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferredPay and BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $70,000 to $74,000 annually.
