General Maintenance Technician The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for delivering exceptional performance in their role, upholding Forbes 5-Star standards, and embodying the property's Core Values. This position ensures the property's facilities are well-maintained and fully operational, contributing to a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff. By providing prompt and effective maintenance solutions, the General Maintenance Technician contributes directly to the property's reputation for excellence. Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment, facilities, and systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption. Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and support hotel operations. Conduct preventative maintenance checks and inspections to identify and resolve potential issues before they become major problems. Adhere to all safety protocols, building codes, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules. Support brand standards and guest experience by ensuring all areas of the hotel are well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in a relevant trade (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting. Strong knowledge of various maintenance disciplines, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to guest service. Soft skills or personality traits aligned with Forbes 5-Star standards: professionalism, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and a positive attitude. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by business needs. Exposure to various environmental conditions, including noise, dust, and temperature fluctuations.
