Automation/Controls Engineer

About the CompanyPrimary metals manufacturer in Colorado needs a Process Automation Engineer with heavy manufacturing experience.About the RoleAs part of the Maintenance team, you will be responsible for developing new processes that improve steelmaking production and rolling mill maintenance.ResponsibilitiesDesign control systems – both hardware and software - that improve production times, material quality, and equipment performance.Seek opportunities to improve quality, save time, save money with automation of the company's process control systems.Work with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC's, drives, and HMI.Write requirements specifications, and high-level design and systems architecture specifications related to control of steel production processes.Provide on-going maintenance support and resolution of process control system problems, including taking ownership of such problems to completion.QualificationsDegree preferred, but expertise in automation and robotics projects is more important.Three or more years of relevant experienceRequired SkillsMust have the ability to read drawings – hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical.Should have five or more years' experience as an Automation specialist in a heavy manufacturing environment.Preferred SkillsExperience preferred in the steel industry, but will consider aluminum manufacturing, some kinds of automotive manufacturing, mining, glass, cement, paper, lumber manufacturing.
